Can anyone explain to me in general if possible what is the advantage of a preamp with many internal components? What's the advantage of so many parts? Or at least the theory. I don't get it. Is it like an old fashioned equalizer the more bands or parts applied the better?
You almost had me believing that. People have been brainwashed and conditioned for many years. Salivate like a Pavlov dog, oh, yeah!
I'm guessing the vendor would argue its all those parts and the way they are put together that justifies the cost.

I've never heard the beast so I don't know.

My gut though says that simplicity works best with a pre-amplifier. It has the least demanding job of all among the common paerts ie source pre-amp amp and speakers.

Not to say this thing might not sound like the cat's meow all on its own, but a stereo system is a team sport and I view the pre-amp's job more like a lineman, pretty cut and dry, not one of the "talent" positions. So you pay less, though needless to say everyone needs a good one of some sort otherwise the rest could end up a mess no matter how good or talented.

If you are building a 6 digit system, I suppose a case could be made for sinking $40K into a pre-amp. But I would still wonder what else might have done a similarly good job for a lot less. I don't know about otherws, but I tend to have to work under a salary cap with my toys.
Another bunch that just doesn't get it. All those transformers and capacitors mess the sound completely up. There is no two ways about it. Anyone who doesn't see the irony raise his hand.
Peter, the record weight adds additional damping, ie; deadens the sound. Depending on your arm+cartridge setup, you might like or dislike the effect.

Nice photo of the TechDas. Why the Stillpoint record weight when he has vacuum hold down?
Wow! Two Vibraplanes one above the other. You must have the time to try things out. What is it doing to the performance?
Now if I can remember how to post a pic...

May I help you?
1. The size from the pic in your computer should be in the area of
900/1024/1280/1680
1.1 Try to size them in the area of 200kb
this accelerates the loading for the visitors
2. Load your pic to an Uploadservice, Tinypic for example
3. At the Audiopgon response field you see "Markup Tags"--->
click it
4. Choose and copy ----> the last one (creates a nice...)
5. go back to no.2 to your upload, you will find a url there to copy
5.1 insert the copied address to replace "http://www.dom.com
6. choose a title
That's it.
Hi, yes it confused me too when I saw that pic. I think, it has to do with the range of sharpness when I focussed to the Diamond. Looks like a hair, but isn't.
Syntax, on your previous photo (FR7-FS), it looks like you are dragging part of a cat with your cart... Is that normal?
A pretty rare one
