Perfect Path Tecnologies ‘The Gate’

Having been a music lover and audio enthusiast for more decades than I care to admit to I’ve had the privilege of owning some tremendous components over those years and thought I had attained a level of musical enjoyment that would be difficult to improve upon without spending more money than I could afford. Then along came The Gate to turn my audio conceptions on end.

While I was quite skeptical of all of the positive proclamations regarding the Perfect Path mats, cards and contact enhancer ( how could they possibly bring about such sonic improvements?) I took the plunge and purchased a nano bundle to see what the hubbub was all about. Much to my surprise they not only brought about improvements to my systems’ ability to recreate a more musical sound but did so in spades.

When Tim of Perfect Path Technologies asked if I wanted to try his new product, The Gate, I jumped at the chance thinking it would be a nice addition to what the other products provided. I wasn’t prepared for the quantum leap The Gate brought to my music listening pleasure. As much as the other products brought about a much lower noise floor, greater detail and delicacy, improved dynamics, richer tone and more realism The Gate does so in magnitudes difficult to describe. The best way I can describe its affect is unreal purity leading the most realistic musical sound I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing.....outside of a live performance obviously. It has me listening to all of my CD’s as if for the first time again.

I have no idea how The Gate actually works or what it does I just know it’s the most dramatic tweak to my system I’ve ever experienced and I wouldn’t think of being without it. As to how it’s implemented, it’s installed in the electrical panel with one lead connected to the common buss and the other to a breaker ( preferably 220). Hope I got the terminology correct.....I’m far from being an electrician!

At $4,999.00 it’s not cheap but worth every penny to me as I’ve spent more on components with less sonic improvement.

Lastly, I realize some will scoff at something they can’t understand and I get not understanding it as I don’t, but I would hope people could keep their skepticism healthy and civil. I am not here to promote or sell, nor do I have any affiliation with PPT. I am only sharing something that I’ve found to be transforming in my system. Sorry for the lengthy introduction.

Hey Lalit, I get a private concert from Nora every night.......in my dreams 🌗

uberwaltz, while my PI Audio Uberbuss sounds quite good with the Gate in the system it sounds even better without it and I’m betting that a DIY power center treated heavily with TC will sound better yet.

Thanks for sharing mribob, it’s good hearing from other Gaters about their experiences. I would imagine ones results will vary depending upon the degree of ‘grunge’ in ones AC but I also imagine that pretty much everyone will hear a sonic improvement worthy of its price.
I  recently Added some very nice and expensive Mullard 6922's along with copper stoppers, from Brent Jesse Tubes, to my hybrid integrated amplifier and they made a very nice improvement in the overall sound. The reason I am mentioning here is that after a few weeks I decided to put the PP Total Contact on the Mullard Tubes pins. Well the improvement of sound quality may have been greater than the actual tube upgrade. So much  added texture and clarity and  a three dimensional effect are what I noticed the most. I had done this with the previous tubes and had no problems whatsoever. It was actually very easy to apply with the consistency of the Total Contact. It doesn't take much at all. Anybody who has tubes in their system and some Perfect Path Total Contact should really try this! I think this is the equivalent of treating  many other connections. I plan to treat the outside glass  surface of the tubes with a thin coat of PP TC in the near future as Tim said this is definite increase in sound quality.
After looking around I decided I could not build my own power center box for the price I could buy the bare bones of one for.
So to that end I bought a Belkin 9100 10 outlet box.
Nice metal case and decent outlets.
Comes with a 14ft cord and on/off switch and circuit breaker.

Plan is to junk the cord, switch and breaker. Rewire all outlets internal with silver wire , treat everything with tc paste and add a 8/3 6 foot cord.

Cost of those mods will be zilch as I have more cable than I know what to do with.

Cost of the Belkin was $26.94 free shipping from Amazon.

Like I said, could not build it for that....
Sounds like a good plan, uberwaltz. Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you. I may do something similar. Are you going to daisy chain or star wire the outlets?
Use the Walker Talisman on the Gate.
Ten seconds, or less, to treat the whole
panel!
tuffy72561 ...

You will want to paste the glass on the signal tubes only. Then, paste the outside edges of the tube sockets for the power tubes. Nice improvement there also.

Frank
@uberwaltz, maybe ditch the steel case, otherwise a nice idea? There was a guy in the U.K. who many years ago tried out different brands of consumer unit and found they all sounded different. He was a pioneer, I’ll try and look him up.
Thanks Frank. I have a hybrid integrated amp so no power tubes. Just two 6922's on the preamp side. Every time I treat tubes with the TC it makes a very noticeable difference. Seems like a much higher level of level of texture and three dimensionality is gained upon doing so.Very worthwhile!
That was fun.  Okay, erik_squires does pose legitimate and thoughtful questions about something plugged directly into an electrical box.  I get that and thank him for posing the questions.

An electrician wired The Gate into the panel and so far no problems.  The resulting improvements have paralleled much of what has been discussed here albeit a delayed rendering.  It is eerie how everything is developing toward blacker backgrounds and more dynamics.

I must confess I installed a Decware ZLC two days previous, so separating out what is doing what becomes unclear, however I'll take the cumulative results as they are remarkable.
Congrats celtic66 and welcome to the club.

It seemed that the greatest amount of improvement for me was from day 2 to about day 7 yet it’s been steadily improving every day since and I’m three weeks in now. Eerie is a great way to describe how much blacker the background gets.....allowing more details and purity of tone to emerge.

Good to see more people installing the Gate, please share your impressions as it settles in.
Well that was a surprise... Of sorts.

Been away 4 days and sat down tonight with great expectations.

But, sort of flatter, not as much sparkle as I remember.

I guess that answers that experiment.

I had spoken with Tim if he thought with The Gate in the breaker panel if emats were now needed in the panel door. Try it without he said, be interesting.

Well I think I can say it was a negative move so the emats will go back in the breaker panel door tomorrow.

Anybody else tried that?
Interesting, überwaltz--on the one hand, the Gate outperforms numerous mats, but on the other, it is reassuring the mats can continue to complement in coverage at the same locations throughout.  They are still useful for those who have made the investment.  Not having the Gate, I finally did some work at my circuit panel by TC painting the bus/breaker connection and wire clamps  and then sticking a mat over the entire switch array---incredible results, even though I have ten other mats at the components.

You'll just have to enjoy the additive advantages of the PPT family of products to date.
I would like to see a "How To" video on you Tube made for installing  The Gate into a breaker panel. I'm told it's really simple.
Last night I put all emats and ecards back to their prior position before retiring for the night.

Played some music this morning and it was already sounding better so the emats at the breaker box definitely appears to compliment the Gate actions or works well in conjunction, take your pick.

So next up I removed my Equicore 1800 and replaced with the Hot rodded Belkin 10 outlet power box.

I honestly feel this is not only no worse but if anything a slight improvement in transparency and speed with possibly a very slight loss in bass.

This makes me think the Equicore was stifling some of the life from the music, loss of detail and some smearing which also can make you feel you have a little more bottom end.

Tbh it may have been ever so slightly bass heavy so it is NO loss at all in reality and a trade I am happy to make for now.

Be interesting to see how it progresses as all the mats/ cards settle again.
Good Afternoon, Music Lovers!!!

<3 Hey Kevin,
The bass will come back.... in SPADES. <3
Specifically your Gate, but also mats and cards need a bit more time to break in.  <3

@jafreeman <3 The Gate will not replace the mats, it's not the designed purpose.  You have made a sound investment in PPT, and these products will never fail. <3 You won't see upgrades that deem  the prior obsolete. Our mission is to complete your system. <3 You need all the keys <3 <3 <3 Painting the PANEL LOL! <3 YES!!!! LOL <3 It isn't for everyone. <3 LOL. <3 Good news is, if you ever purchase a gate, it will SUPERCHARGE the TC. <3 You are a fun customer, Joe. Thanks <3
In my experience, these PPT products all work together to improve the sound. Each one individually works, but together ... wow.

Still thinking about more things to paste ... and the mats are staying in the circuit breaker box right next to The Gate.

Frank
Uberwaltz, I find that my system also sounds better without power conditioning now that I have the Gate also. In my experience balanced power conditioners and power regenerators can slightly compress dynamics and bass. Moving to the PI Audio Uberbuss made an appreciable improvement in dynamics, bass and speed in my system and going from the Uberbuss to the totally passive WyWires PowerBroker increased the same qualities slightly more again. The same goes for my TV system, better performance without power conditioning. Now I have two power conditioners I no longer need!

Like others here I’ve found the PPT products form a synergy that amplifies their affects. The Gate is profoundly powerful in its affect and enhances what the mats, cards and TC bring to the table. Upon removing my mat and cards I found the sound while very good, less engaging than with them.

I will say that I done experimenting with moving or removing the mats and cards as they are best left alone to do their magic. Moving them starts the energizing process all over again and who wants to take steps backwards in our musical enjoyment? Not me!

Krissy, when are you guys going to come out with a PPT skull cap? I’m betting it would make me feel a hundred years younger. Ahhhhh......to feel 99 again 😜

Mac.

Good to know I am on the right track. Yes it is time to leave mats and cards alone again and let them settle.

Skullcap? The mind boggles.
Maybe that is how Tim is coming up with these great ideas and products!
He already has his version of a head spinitron!
Its been over three weeks since the Gate has been installed...Tim was kind enough to suggest a more optimal placement position for it in my panel via text photo...been busy at work, but today, have the house alone, and I'm able to enjoy the stereo and louder listening volumes. Sitting here, listening to an album from 'Academy of Ancient Music, Andrew Manze, playing Bach's Concerto for oboe and violin, strings and continuo in D minor...and its simply breath taking....the music flows seemlessly, full of sonic depth and textures, that was missing from my rig previously. Sound stage, bass, detail, resolution in spades....the music just fills my large listening space, and transports me to a live concert hall. I rarely listen to classical, but am raptured by the beauty.
I believe the synergistic effect of my judicious use of TC paste, 6 eMatts, and now the Gate have really transformed and elevated my system. The changes for me were gradual, but when I now have time to listen, its just amazing. I have no dog in this hunt...but wish to share my personal observations on how these products are helping me simply enjoy the music like never before, and thats why I worked hard to improve my rig...hard to believe it could get better than this.
Peace...and enjoy listening.

This....
From a "fan".....

9:44pmALL the people who are hooked on whatever they fed you or planted in your mind from PPT, (more like drug addicts or newly converted religious fanatics.. than audiophiles btw. can stay the hell away from me. There is no ’natural’ response in any of the praise comments, or the strange need for others to join them. So it seems more like a ’cult’ than a product. I find the behavior of way too many of the cult followers to be just like Scientology followers, and seem to be playing fro the same handbook.
You all act like you are in love, or like you were hit with "Love Potion #9"
If it entirely disgusting behavior, and bizarrely repugnant. And gee I really really mean it. So stay the hell away from me with that garbage. Spew it at somebody stupid.

Bizarre or what!
Bob ...

Very nice review. These PPT products have an uncanny ability to remove glare, grunge and other impurities from the AC that nothing else can match that I know of. The results are stunning.

A fellow A'Goner just left after a seven-hour listening session today. One of his comments was that the noise floor has become so low that the naturalness of the music is allowed to flow, while at the same time, the instrument's tonal quality has improved to such a degree that the sound is just more real.

Talking about "real," a couple of friends (both audiophiles) and I went to a live concert Friday night and sat in the front row between the string section and the piano. It was a professional symphony orchestra with the soloists being gifted Junior High and High School students. Fantastic talents. My first thought was of my audio system ... and as good as it is at this point, it is not even close to what we heard there.  If only ...

Frank
Uber, tell your fan the threads are a front and we are really members of the Perfect Path Temple.  We have passed through The Gate and have reached a state of Total Clarity.  That should keep him going.....
Great synopsis mribob, it sums up what I’ve been hearing very well. I too find myself listening at louder volumes as I now can do so without any negative affects. I also find my system seemingly sounds louder than before. In other words it seems louder at the same dB level as before but it’s just that it’s more dynamic and ‘energized’ sounding.

Hey uberwaltz, around here your ‘fans’ response isn’t surprising at all. There are a number of close minded individuals that have never heard the products affects in their systems, don’t want to hear it and yet are convinced that there’s absolutely no way the products can achieve the results we are describing and therefore we are all ‘fanboys’ and/or delusional. Hmmmm......maybe they’re in their own cult of denial? 😃

I agree Frank, the removal of signal grunge and associated lower noise floor allows for a more pure musical sound to flow forth but as good as that pure musical sound is nothing comes close to that of a live performance.

Jafreeman, Mac.

Unfortunately the "fan" is female, which should give the game away...lol

Think someone must have spiked her cocoa last night......

Not sure if I can heap any platitudes on the Gate this morning now, someone may call the health department on me.

But here goes, mostly an all day listening session on and off yesterday and boy was it good.
Tried various media, tape, vinyl. cd and streaming.

Bass has returned in spades, still the vocal clarity and range is breathtaking, hearing notes and effects in songs I had never noticed before which I think has to be just the lower noise floor, always there just never could hear them previously.

And yes I am for the most part listening to music at a higher SPL than previous without feeling there is any degradation or breaking down of the musical force for want of better words.

A very happy camper indeed.
@mribob

Can you expound on the change in position of the Gate in your panel to a more optimal position?
I fear mine is less than optimal simply because it is a very old panel and there was no room for the Gate at the bottom.
In fact it is near the top, pretty close to the incoming mains lines.
Thank you
Guys, if those old, useless power conditioners are cluttering up your otherwise pristine listening areas, I will step up and help out. I shall allow you to send them to me. Just throwing that out there.....

⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆
😂😂😂😂😂

And they say these forums are too serious!
uberwaltz ...

Your positioning for The Gate is fine. Same as mine.

Bob’s installation was different. He has a brand new panel due to damage from the recent fires. There was no room at all in the panel that contained the switches. There was a side panel that contained the mains that fed the meter and that’s where we placed The Gate. We fed the wires from The Gate through to the panel with the switches using a convenient hole.

I sent Tim a picture of the installation and Tim’s suggestion was to lean The Gate against the other side of the panel with the logo facing up toward the meter. That’s it in a nutshell. No big deal.

By the way, Bob has a first-rate system and it sounds great. Anyone familiar with Venture speakers knows how good they are. With The Gate installed, the bass was so much improved that we suggested that he disconnect the subwoofer. Not sure if he left it that way or not, but it sure sounded good by the time we left.

Frank
Thanks Frank

I have not got round to total disconnect on the sub yet but I have turned the output down considerably.

Still early days.....

Wow... Quantum materials, carbon derivatives, Nanotechnology. OMG those are big fancy words... do they even know how to derive the Schrodinger's wave equation (basics of quantum mechanics)??? Well, they seem to know how to derive the Snake Oil equation for sure. And what's quantum materials??????????? Really curious.
Jkbtn.

Is that the best you have to offer?

Trolling two PPT threads with the same "snake oil"chant.

Very imaginative indeed.

😴😴😴😴
I am grooving on the E mat I finally put over my breakers--I guess I didn't think I needed one there because I have a big transformer right at the components.  And the TC continues to work mojo there and in my new AC cord.

The cynics may visit to scoff, but please don't stay long.  I may have a song for that..........
https://youtu.be/s-ITL7s6Vyc
Conversing with Tim this morning who wanted to know how I had my Gate installed.

He advised that it should give best results with the label or wording facing the bussbar or breakers.

Mine is mounted high in the box to the right and vertical which was perfect he said apart from label was facing out.
All I did was rotate it in place so label facing the breakers.

I do have pictures of before and after but have never figured out how to add any to conversations here! I do not use any photo hosting services or any social media crap and likely never will!
This forum is bad enough... lmao.

Just passing this along in case it may be of use to others with The Gate.

Time for another listening session.

I haven’t been able to listen to any music the last couple of weeks yet was able to do so today. Wow. I don’t know if it’s due to the long absence or the Gate settling in another two weeks but even with my back up amp the system sounds amazing. When I get my newly upgraded 300B SET  monoblocks next week I’m in for a real treat!
OK guys, settle down. This is serious!
If I took your Gate, would you take offense?

So Tim of Perfect Path Technologies has invented some sort of "quantum" device? And only a mere $4999.99! When will the Nobel Prize in Physics be forthcoming? I wonder what he will invent next - some kind of FTL drive? Alpha Centauri, here we come!
PPT "The Gate" is the 21th Century version of Hadacol!  At least you could drink that and get drunk!
"I wonder what he will invent next".  I would say come see me at Capitol Audio Fest, there will be plenty of new creations to see & hear in PPT's
room. It's going to be a blast!
roberjerman ...

So, what happened when you installed "The Gate" in your system? No improvement in SQ? Nothing at all? Please enlighten us.

Thanks...
