NYC audio dealers
I'm going to be in New York (mostly Brooklyn, some time in Manhattan) the week of Thanksgiving, and was wondering if anyone could suggest audio dealers there that might be worth a visit. I'm not looking to bring home a pair of monoblock amps in my overhead bag, just want to window-shop, as it were.

@4hannons Nah, too busy seeing art galleries. Did see Bob Dylan live at the Beacon Theater, which was pretty cool for a life-long old fan like me. Here's what he played: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/bob-dylan/2019/beacon-theatre-new-york-ny-3b9a38b4.html |
I love NYC, each year my wife works at NYU in January for a few days and I always go with her. This year I plan to visit World of McIntosh https://worldofmcintosh.com/ that I learned about recently and am very excited about. Other than that, unfortunately you will no longer find any dealers in Manhattan that allow much in the way of window shopping. The guy at Stereo Exchange moved his showroom uptown about 4 years ago - he is nice but best to make an appointment with him. He has very high-end stuff. You didn't ask, but you can find a good selection of music stores selling records and CD's in Greenwich Village if you're into that sort of thing. Enjoy! |
Most of the NYC shops will want to have a buyer, not a looker. Especially one with two S's. I suggest getting either a rental car or an Uber, and go to AudioConnection in Verona, NJ. John Rutan will treat you well. And, you will probably learn a lot while there. (And, the pizza shop down the street is very good-and I know Pizza). Bob |
