Meh! Saw the new one last week. I found it underwhelming and while creepy, not particularly suspenseful nor scary. I had high hopes for Willem Defoe’s character, but the performance was caricaturish to the point of being comical.

And since this was posted on the “Music” page:

I actually liked the score…pretty much. Beautiful orchestral playing. However, I have trouble with film scores that are not period-appropriate. Compositionally the score is modernistic, the setting is not. Reminded me of the feeling evoked when watching, for instance, a Western set two hundred years ago accompanied by a score featuring R&R -ish tunes.

I like the recommendations made above.  I would add to that list Jim Jarmusch's "Only Lovers Left Alive."

I like vampire movies, I'm just a sucker for the genre.

Art Zoyd did an electronic soundtrack to Nosferatu back in the early 90s that is quite interesting.

Carl Dreyer's Vampyr is an excellent movie on the vampire theme.  It's a sound film, but has a silent movie style.  I would also recommend "Let the Right One In" (the original version) as a nice change of pace.

I'll be seeing the new one this week, but my favorite is Shadow Of The Vampire. Willem Dafoe was robbed when he didn't win the Oscar for his performance in the movie.

Herzog is a genius and Kinski too...

Why?

They taught us something each time...

For entertainment many other movies can beat it...

I dont care so much for entertainment in movie...

i prefer to be moved... Not excited but fascinated... Not reacting but contemplating even after the movie...

Herzog do it and Kinski too which is not an "actor" but a monster on his own in a way almost no actor in Hollywood ever was save Marlon Brando perhaps....

Herzog is an artist not a movie maker, a thinker as Kubrick was...

I know I’m in the minority and will never be asked to teach film, but WH’s Nosferatu was to me pure atmosphere with no suspension of disbelief possible.

Stylish, with un-earned engagement or even horror.

For me, The Last Voyage of the Demeter was a magnificent vampire movie by comparison.
