A set of Tyr2 power cables is my next upgrade, to replace Hiemdall2. But I need 5 of them.
Nordost Tyr2 vs Valhalla1 Powercord
Hello, I bought a Nordost Tyr2 powercord for my ML11a speakers used and was hoping to find another but haven't found one yet. I see a Valhalla1 for sale and the seller says they are essentially the same as the Tyr2s, obviously I would like both speakers to be powered by the same cord. The price is the same as I paid for the Tyr2 and is a great deal, maybe I should be patient and hope to find another? If anyone has experience with these I would appreciate any info, thanks. Joe
@joeyfed55 just wondering what power cords you have on your components. In my opinion, a pair of Tyr 2 power cords may be overkill powering the speakers. You’ll get cleaner bass without a doubt and probably some improvement with the panels. But a cord like the Tyr 2 will most likely make the most difference on your amplifier unless you’re using an equally good or better power cord there already. I would use something like the Audience forte f3 on the Logans. It’s up to you of course. |
Having owned an all-NORDOST FREY array and selectively experimented with immediate model below HEIMDALLS, here is my take for guesstimating the effects of VALHALLA 1 vs TYR2 for yiu - if it’s ICs and / or speaker cables: okay …I kinda lean toward to the VALHALLA by a bit, but im still cautioning that it is a very system dependent item for a worthy upgrade ($$ spent vs % audio performance improvements). - if it’s power cords, then nope ….personally I would not venture expecting any meaningful audio performance uptick expected between a VALHALLA V1 versus TYR2.Whatever the uptick,- if any - would be nominal and more subtle rather than immediate and meaningful. - and V1 still somehow lack that cachet compared to V2 models - and with some real skepticism as to what VALHALLA V1 could give over TYR V2 models - Q WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FREY V1 vs FREY V2? - A…read on ..,, “ … Compared to the original Frey speaker cables, the Frey 2s enjoy a 12% lower capacitance of 10.3 picofarads per foot -- according to Nordost, this increases the speed of the cable’s signal transmission while lowering signal loss….”
