Non-fee Internet listening, FM stations, etc.

I enjoy listening to FM stations through the Internet. I listen to all kinds of music. I notice some sound terrible. And some not so bad at all. Do you all have suggestions of Internet stations that sound half-way good? I have two: WDCB 90.9 Public Radio from Glen Ellyn, IL and KQAC All Classical from Portland, OR. The programming (WDCB Jazz, KQAC 89.9 Classical) and hosts are excellent. And the sound quality is pretty darn good. I really like, for example Louisville's WFPK 91.9 but the sound quality not good -- is about like AM. 

Do you have any favorite feeds (FM stations, etc) outside of the Internet subscription services like Tidal, Qobuz, etc.?

I have what is probably considered a "mid fi" system: SAE Mark 31 amp, Reference Line Preeminence One preamp, Salk WOW 1 speakers. Sources are: Squeezebox Duet into Topping D30 DAC, original Pro-Ject with Denon DL 110; and Marantz 5001 CD player. Anticable interconnects and speaker wire. In some cases, the sound quality from WDCB and KQAC is just about as good as what I get out of my LPs and CDs.

Thanks to all for your recommendations -- a good dozen or so. I'll be busy trying to figure out how to get them set up in the Logitech Media Server, recognized by the Squeezebox Duet, and out the speakers. I need a "Sqeezebox / LMS for Dummies" to explain plug ins and how to connect with some of the stations that are other than straight fm.

One good thing about many of these sources is the work of the on-air talent. If you are interested in a terrific program, tune in on Sunday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm PDT to KQAC to Suzanne Nance and her program, "Sunday Brunch." Great eclectic stuff.

Also tune in most weekdays to WDCB and any jazz program hosted by Paul Abella, Leslie Keros, or Al Carter-Bey. They are excellent.

Mental growth in the esoteric sense involves not listening to anything with recognizable voice in it. Voice being part of the closed ego loop of the hind of the mind. (It's a trap!) (loop-lock tying you to yesterday's ground, unable to find a new tomorrow)

Thus, the idea, in some esoteric leaning thinking (Ok, the vast majority of it), is to go for those free stations that have music with no vocals whatsoever.

I only listen to radio stations in the office on a Sonos system. The sound quality of most FM station is good enough. The music I really like is never played on the radio. If you are going to drink wine it might as well be the good stuff.

Tunein gives you access to hundreds of FM and internet stations from around the planet.  Some are great, some are not.  You used to be able to search for hi-res stations, but I'm not sure you still can.  Many stations offer more than one stream and you can see what bit rate they are in.

As mentioned, Radio Paradise is great. 

KNKX streams two channels, one news and jazz, the other is all jazz.

Linn has a good jazz station I have as a default. Great sound quality and a variety of jazz music.

OP mentioned WDCB - which I agree is an excellent station with good sound on my internet radios/tuners.  Another is KKJZ - - great jazz programming and very fine sound.

Radio Paradise is a non-commercial listener-supported Internet radio station that helped to redefine the radio station for the internet era.[1] It is known for high quality audio streams and curated playlists.[2] The station is based in the United States but has a significant international audience,[3] with many of the songs and station greetings on its "world" stream in multiple languages. The station is known familiarly as "RP".

As of 2020, RP has four curated playlists:[2] Rock Mix, emphasizing modern and classic rock; World/Etc Mix, emphasizing world and electronic music; Mellow Mix, emphasizing songs with a more relaxing tone; and Main Mix, combining the three. A little jazz and classical music is sometimes heard as well. Detailed information about the playlists is available on the website but they can only be listened to live on the stream. There is limited DJ commentary, with sets that can go on for hours without interruption.

RadioParadise. They have a couple of different feeds with different programming. All sound fantastic and have resolution choices up to FLAC. And soon to by MQA if you like that sort of thing.....
