Lamm or Allnic Preamp

Charney Maestro speakers with Voxativ AC-2.6 drivers, Air Tight 300B amp, presently using passive preamp for volume control.

Looking to add active preamp. Considered Air Tight, Shindo, VAC, VTL, Zesto, Rogue, Thoress. But, have really narrowed down to Lamm LL2.1 Deluxe or Allnic L-6500.

Thoughts and advice?

First of all, I havn't audition the Allnic L-6500 line amp. However, I built my own 5845 single stage line amp with Monolith line output transformer. The result is really good with superb clarity and musical.

The L-6500 is with similar design that I believe it would be a good match with the Air Tight 300B.

The new Spatial Audio Raven looks most interesting and they offer a trial period.  Same for Aric Audio Motherload XL.  Sorry, I know they’re not the models you asked about but thought you might at least might be interested in taking a look as feedback has been outstanding and may save you $$$.  Best of luck.

I own the Spatial Audio Lab Raven. It is the brainchild of Don Sachs and Lynn Olson; two very talented and highly respected audio designers.  It is outstanding and my end game preamp for sure. All those mentioned above are widely praised by those who own them.  You might add Atma-Sphere to the list.  Good luck with your pursuit.

The Allnic gear has always intrigued me but it seems very difficult to actually get your hands on one, even at a dealer showroom much less in your own home. Or a least that was my experience when considering them for an upgrade a few years back. Would still love to give them a try but it's a lot to spend on a totally blind purchase.

I owned an Allnic L-5000 DHT a few years ago and it was excellent. Transparent, detailed, cohesive and extended on both ends. I replaced it with an Emotive Audio Epifania, which took detail and transparency up a notch or two, but sacrificed a remote control, which I need.

Anyway, I've owned a few Allnic products and have found them to be good value for money and reliable.
