Lamm ML2 power cords and tube rolling

Am interested in any recommended power cords which seem to work well with the ML2; also, tube-rolling experiences, in particular regarding the 12AX7, would be most appreciated.

Hello Alexc, my local Dealer ordered them from the Distributor. They are a little bit stiff, not much, there is no problem to use them with a rack close to the wall.
When you are looking for a soft power cable, I also have some from XLO and I replaced their plugs with those from Oyaide. Excellent results.
Like Oneobgyn said, I've bought every tube except the 12AX7 from Lamm, with great service and prompt shipping. Why gamble with possibly saving a few bucks on tubes, when we've made such significant investments in our amps?
"Vladimir made a big deal about matched pairs for his amps. "

While other 6C33 tubes can be bought Vladimir does keep stats on every amp he has made. Personally I buy my 6C33 tubes from him and have never been disappointed. The only tube I have ever bought other than him were the NOS 12AX7 Telefunken which I have never regretted
I spoke with Vladimir today asking about tubes for my ML1 and got a quote. But My question is has anyone got the big 6C33 tubes from another reliable source other than Lamm without any issues. Vladimir made a big deal about matched pairs for his amps. Any experience with another tube source for the big tubes.

"Are you saying that the ribbed plate Tele's has a more balanced, richer sound on the ML2's? As for the 6N6P's, I have been trying to buy them from Lamm...but their response times are lousy..they took 4 days just to quote me a price ($ 40 each), and I have been waiting 5 days now to get a PayPal invoice from them...."

The ribbed Tele IMO is the best one

I have never had a similar experience with Vladimir as you did. A simple followup phone call I bet would work

They only use Paypal
Oneobgyn - Are you saying that the ribbed plate Tele's has a more balanced, richer sound on the ML2's? Thomas - Givne the rest of your system, that is high praise indeed for the Oyaides, which appear to be relatively modestly priced. May I ask where you purchased them? How bad are they in terms of stiffness? I have CPC Top Gun HCFI's throughout my system now, and though they sound great,I absolutely hate how unwieldy they are.

Dmailer - The Silent Source cords are on my list...but they seldom come up for sale on Audiogon...

Whart - Which Kubala PC's are you using? I have the Emotion speaker cables, which are a bargain for the $ considering the performance...but still not able to splurge on the full Emotion suite of cables...
I use the Oyaide Tunami Power Cords.A friend compared them with those from NBS (don't know which model) and prefered the Oyaide.
I am using Silent Source Hi Current power cords from Walker Audio with good results. In the 12AX7 position I am using a Raytheon black plate O getter which I found better than the Tele smooth plate. The Tele had a nice midrange but was light on the low end in my system.
ON PCs, I really like the Kubala cords on the ML 2. That's what I'm using. And, I get my tubes thru the mad Russian in Brooklyn.
Txs, guys. That's a LOT of $ for plain ribbed Telefunkens! Are you sure they are not gold pins? On the 6N6P...I just ordered a bunch from Russia and will try to match them myself. How critical is matching on these?
I have ML 2.1's and have used many NOS tubes including Telefunken and Mullard. The latter was not my taste BUT "wow" to the Telefunken 12AX7. Presently I have circa 1965 with a rib plate. Each tube was ~$350 but bear in mind that this is the first tube the signal sees and IMO is the only tube worth rolling in the amp.

As for AC PC's I use all Nordost Valhalla here and throughout my system.

BTW be certain to change the 6N6P tube on that amp yearly as recommended by Vladimir.
I ended up with Tele box plate 12AX7s and Shunyata PCs. Very happy camper...my Avantgarde Duo Omegas have found a proper dance partner!

Did you ever get any more leads on power cords to go with the ML2's? I am also using Telfunken 12AX7's....but plan to try a few others to find the best synergy with the rest of my system. I am told that the gold pin Telefunken ECC803S are very good..but they command a very high price right now and might not make as much of a difference in an amp as in a preamp.
I've found Tele 12AX7 smooth plates to work very well with my ML2's. If you're after a warmer, richer sound try Mullard's.

I'm using Nordost Brahma's but haven't experimented with many pc's.
