Dense, powerful sounding TT, decent top $3500 max? Keep your eyes open for a used Micro Seiki RX 5000. Tough to find but worth the wait.
If boulder is tops what is second tier? I've owned the Lamm and Audio Research Reference and replaced them with the Shindo Giscours pre with built in phono. To mey ears it wasn't even close. Works extremely well with my Zyx UNIverse cartridge.
ZYX Universe silver vs copper I have the UNI with copper coils and am very happy with it. I haven't tried the silver coils but it's my understanding the copper coils are more neutral while the silver coils add warmth ala Koetsu.
Anybody on Patty Larkin? "Red Luck" is a great test for your system. It's closely "miked" and can be hard sounding up topwith lotsa digital nasties if your system is not up to the challenge....it's a true torture test."Regrooving the Dream" is superb with a surreal, expan...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint Hey Dan, you're right ...we have met. I sold my Basis some time ago and now have a MicroSeiki RX5000. This is also a high mass non-suspended table (ala Galibier,Teres, etc.)which just "gets out of the way" of the music.
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint I concur with sirspeedy, this thread has been very enlightening. Seems the folks on the analog forums are far more civilized and helpful than participants in digital.I have the TriPlanar VII/UNI combo on a Micro Seiki RX5000 and am quite happy. Th...
Which Patricia Barber album floats yer boat? Warrenh: I have seen PB in concert several times (Regattabar in Boston and Carnegie Hall). Both live performance made me want to go back and listen to her on my rig with CD's. Bottom line......live performances get a D/C-, studio recordings A
Whats on your turntable tonight? Donald Fagen's "Morph the Cat". Steve Hoffman has outdone himself on this one.
EMM Lab CDSD transport motor resonating Nikki- Something is very strange. I owned one of the original CDSD (metal tray)and it had a very annoying ticking sound. I replaced it when the CDSD came out and it has been bulletproof. I know several people with the new CDSD (plastic tray) and n...
Lamm ML2 power cords and tube rolling I've found Tele 12AX7 smooth plates to work very well with my ML2's. If you're after a warmer, richer sound try Mullard's.I'm using Nordost Brahma's but haven't experimented with many pc's.
VTL, CTC, Lamm, ARC, EAR, Halcro, Mark Levison I'm using a Shindo Giscours with Lamm ML2/Kharma Midi-Exquisite's with great success. Also had the CJ ACT2 which was also a very good match.
A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx On the lighter side.......... a good laugh.http://www.goodsoundclub.com/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?postID=1622
Best Blues on CD/SACD? Any of the Mighty Sam McClain's on the Audioquest label.
Kharma 3.2 CRM FE and which power amp? I also own the 3.2's and have owned several amps with these speakers. The list includes Joule Electra Grand Marquis, Lamm ML1.1 and Lamm ML2. Ultimately, I have settled on the ML2's which easily drive the 3.2's in my 18x23 listening room. For cabl...
Wadia 861se vs All others. Another great testimonial to older DAC's is the Museatex Bidat. With mod's many feel it bests many of today's ultra-expensive DAC's. Best advice is to ignore the hype and let your "ears" decide whats good. |
