If I remember correctly, there is a small circuit board that is attached to the input connectors and the capacitor to block DC is on this board. There is also a small jumper on this board. The bypass jumper on this connector need to be removed to use the capacitor. There should be one for left and right channels. |
dilly3364 OP Your Bat pre being a tube should already be capacitor coupled output, therefore if you engage the Krells cap coupled input as well you'll have two caps in series, which will be much lower in uF that just using the Bat's cap alone. This may very well rolloff the bass way too early if you use both. The cap in the Krell should be used with direct coupled SS preamps that have maybe dc offset emitting from them. Cheers George |
I bought a Krell FPB 300 to run my tube BAT Vk 30 preamp.@dilly3364 Krell has been for years actively spreading a false rumor that tube preamps put out DC. This flies in the face of 70 years of tube preamps that don't do that... the started with one of their amplifiers that failed and the customer had used a tube preamp. It might be that the preamp was the problem, if so an event that is extremely rare- and just as rare as a solid state preamp making DC. So don't worry about it; this simply isn't a thing. Ask **any** other solid state amp manufacturer, or look at the many threads on this forum about how tube preamps and solid state amps work nicely together :) |
Sorry for the Hyjack. My last post reminded me or my time with Krell. I had an FPB 200 with Thiel CS6's with an Adcom GFP 750 pre and digital front end. What a combination, WOW for Rock and Pop, yet it glared at me with Classical. So, I got a California Audio Lab's tubed DAC. Oh, I became a tube lover from the first push of the play button. Then came my first tube pre-amp and I became a tube "Slave". Many years later, I have two systems, 200 miles apart: twice a year gear; VTL 450MKII's, B&W801S3's various front end gear. I live "Off The Grid" with a Tubed Integrated Amp and tubed phono stage, DAC. All those years and it's because of those jumpers on the internal right and left side, rear of that wonderful Krell Amp. |
