Has Your Hobby Changed? I retired and move to a mountain cabin, completely off the grid. My city system will not work with my cabin's solar/battery power system. I have a small system up here but rarely us it. Most listening these days is with phones and iPhone. Yes, ...
Who has tried one of the PS Audio Power Regenerators? My PPP was a early version. I worked ok with my cheaper gear and had no affect with my pricey gear. As my system improved it became a switching box. After a few years of use it started clicking loudly. Called PSA and the person manning the phone...
PS Audio PowerPlant 12 Review (AC Regenerator) I owned an early PS Audio PowerPlant for years! After a few year it became noisy with clicking sounds. I called about having it serviced. After a very rude conversation with someone on PS Audio staff I dropped it in the trash. Interesting by th...
Does anyone know where this J. Gordon Holt comes from? I ran in to him on an elevator at a Stereophile Audio Show in West LA in the late 80's. The only thing I remember about the ride was the smell. Very bad personal habits.
Were you an audiophile in the 1980s and 1990s? Rode an elevator with Holt once at a Show in LA in the mid 80's. I didn't say anything mainly because a person on the car asked question after question and Gordon was getting slightly irritated. Me, I thought the guy was gonna bend over and kiss...
B&W 801 Matrix Tweeter Grill I have BW 801S3 (in storage) when I bought them the woofer grill was damaged. I got hold of B+W and ordered two new one. It was in the early part of this Century when I ordered and it was not cheap. Good Luck they are outstanding speakers and well...
atn-150Sa fits any at150 cartridge? I also use both the stock MLX and SA stylus. I prefer the MLX on older recording's from the 60's thru 80's and the SA on newer recording.
McIntosh Preamps I bought a Mcintosh C2500 a few years ago which is my end game pre-amp. Mine was purchased as demo after the C2600 was released and highly discounted. It may have been listed as demo but it was new in the box.
"High end" store snobbery Back in the day if a salesperson was a jerk I didn't buy from them, that simple. For me the internet replaced Salons years ago. I have never had a product sound the same in my home as it did in a store. I was a member here for years and quit. I...

TT Arm-base Unipivot vs Gimbal-base Designs... My guess is, Unipivot arms works really nicely but to me it felt strange, to each their own. I did also try Linear Tracking TT’s but they were finicky at best on the low end. I will stick with my 1210 and it Jelco arm.
Qobuz hell Call the card company and tell them the story. They can stop payment. I use "Discover" and they are great to work with.
VTL MB-450 Series III Signature Monoblocks VS. Pass Labs 260.8 Monoblocks I've owned VTL 450MKII for many years and it has never given me a single problem. Tubes need replacing from time to time. With the 450 if one goes a little light blinks identifying bad tube. Power down, replace the tube. Auto Biasing is way nice...
Experience With Linear Tracking Turntables I have two Technics SL-10 Linear Tracking full auto machines. Both track well and always start and stop accurately.
Where did you buy your first audio gear? Fort Ord PX 1972! Cheap but it was the start. |
