King Of contest...

Hi we all know that
Michael Jackson -- King of Pop
Elvis Presley -- King of R&R
Benny Goodman -- King of Swing

I nominate the following Kings and Queens:

Jascha Heifez -- King of Violin
John Medesky -- King of Hammond
BB King -- ya'll know!
Nat King Cole -- King of voice(or Frank Sinatra still not sure!)
Barbara Denerlain -- Queen of Hammond
Barbra Streisand(or Linda Ronstadt still not sure!) -- Queen of pop
Sara Brightman -- Queen of opera
Enrico Caruso -- King of opera and tenor

Not sure who to nominate as King of Symphony, but both turn my attention more than anyone else performing the same concerts: Arturo Toscanini vs. Georg Solti.

Share your kings, queens and enjoy the forum!

Roxy54-Squeeze as the best band ever?(yikes!) You must have been tempted by some rotten fruit!

Zd542,
In each case you mention, I think it was clear that it was what I liked personally, not the world's best, whatever that is."

I was just having a bit of fun with it. But if you read the OP again, I think he meant it in the same way that you do.
Roxy54,
There's nothing wrong in liking personally. The meaning of KING and the meaning of Best very often don't get along because there are less known musicians that may actually be better.

I think its rubbing off on you.

Hard to Say. My choices - Squeeze, Roxy Music, Alice in Chains.

Which hifi magazine do you think is the best in the world?

Overall, I would have to say that I like Hi Fi+ best.

I found those speakers to have some of the best midrange sound at the show

The Harbeth monitor 40 that you are referring to are the best speakers that I have ever heard, and like most people who visit this site, I have owned quite a few and heard many others. I can't even imagine how they could sound better, but what you heard was the new version 40.1. I can't wait to hear it, and I am saving for them.

I don't like crowning Kings or Queens of anything. There is an artist for every taste, and the way they resonate and have meaning for an individual is personal, not a contest. Still, Americans love to do this. Everything becomes a contest; who is number 1? I think it's a strange viewpoint, but it seems to be ingrained in the American DNA.
