Well its been pretty hot here and not a lot of rain lately. I know you want it to rain so you can stay busy. I planted 14 Tomato plants. They are lokking really GOOD. I have big Green Tomatos , but no red ones yet. It won't be long.
two of m y favorite things about summer are ...Toamatos and Silver Queen corn. i could eat those until they run out my ears !!

@ Grey9hound, I agree!, We should not have to pay for a new box!, I still may look into that, I want to keep the peace till they get done with the amp, LOL!, you do not upset the mechanic while they are working on a car, same principal!, I want The job done right with the amp!, then we get to what I should pay for, I am sure they will make me pay for the box eanyway,, one thing is certain, I will not allow in no way let them ship my amp back without being on my skidd and tied down to the skidd with my rachet tie downs, thats a fact!, or they will buy my amp period!, I made that very clear to them!, I will also make sure of this right before shipping the amp back to me, so their will be no foul ups on there part!, Its just like dealing with the auto dealership!, sure, they can do a great job on the car, and the end of the day, they still have no common sence and you have to make sure of this and that!,,, stay in touch my friend!,, cheers! |
Well, I am glad you got them straightened out . At least it seems so. I still would not let them charge me $300 dollars for shipping material . As much as you will have to pay for the repairs , that should be included ! They sound like a bunch of greedy bastards to me . That really makes me turn against buying a KRELL. That is the other thing that you should tell them. Tell them that you ahve posted your bad experience with Krell on Audiogon for everyone to see.
Tell them that you are going to post for everyone to avoid Krell. Tell them that you will post that you think they are a rip off, and that you will recommend that everyone avoid them at all cost .
THAT, I promise WILL get there attention. Well at least it should. If it doesn't, then there are a bunch of pompus assholes, which may be the case anyway.

@ Grey9hound, Hi, I met the criteria for return shipping on a triple layerd box with all reuseable material!, Krell thought because of the box was smashed down, they have to charge me $300.00 dollars for their box made for the 700cx!, believe me when I say this!, I bessed them out and told them that was B.S.!, that their box will smash down when they use my rachet tiedowns to return my amp!, and, BTW, they was not going to use my skidd or my tiedowns!, I told them to listen and listen good!, I said, My shipping carrier that I use, Is where my return addresse is for my amp, will in no way accept eanything thats not on a skidd and tied down with rachet tiedowns that is heavy electronics!, And I told them, under NO circumstances do you attempt to send my amp back without it back on my skidd and useing my rachet tiedowns on the amp to the skidd!, I told them of the story from last year, when ups smashed multi-thousand dollar speakers in my moms driveway!, the dealer gave me a refund and then the dealer had to sue ups!, I never got any speakers, just my money back!, that said, Krell said they will do as I asked them, or I will not have them ship the amp back, LOL!, they use ups!, thats why I have them taking the amp to my carriers Dock!, Krell is going to do what I asked they said!, and, At the last moment before shipping back, I will make sure of this my self!, they destroyed my shipping material just to charge me the $300.00 dollars extra!, you better believe for that kind of money, I will use that made for the krell 700cx box 4-ever!, cheers! |
@ Isochronism, The reason I asked if you have tube products, Is most likly you would know about tubes,LOL!, I would like to know if you know of any digital players that are none 6h30 tubes players, that use a different type tube all together that can be run direct to amplifier?, and If not, do you know much about modright?, Do you think it may be possible for a mod company like Modright to modify An Ayon 2s player that uses the 6h30 tubes inside to be reworked to use a different type of tubes?,, thanks, Cheers! |
@ waxwaves, Very cool write up!, good or bad!, you need the Taralabs the one a/c power cord!, I did tell you that from the beginning!, for your amp, Thou the Decade can handle your amp!, I did tell you up-front it did not have the bass or body!, every thing else sounds great, remember me telling you that!,, sometimes we have to bite the bullet and spend more money on a cable waxwaves!, thats if you want to use Taralabs!, you have alot to catch up too!, there has been three people between the two threads that have full loom Taralabs cables, from the one on down with good effect!, they love them!, and have had the set-up a very long time!, Happy listening! |
I can add to my last post by saying that I do not have a top of the line Tara Labs cable setup with Zero Gold, Omega Gold and Cobalt pc. Not even the One or 0.8. If I did, I would probably be amazed by the "full on Tara Labs sound" with a "full loom" of these great cables that may be the best on earth. I have in my system the lower down the Tara Labs line Air 1 and Air 2 model ics and Air 1 speaker cable.
I love what the Air 1 and 2 cable has allowed my system to do sonically! I will say again that my system sounds even better with a well balanced sounding power cable or a warmer more full bodied sounding power cable in the mix.
I REALLY LOVE the sound of my system with Tara Labs cables in the speaker cable slot and in the interconnect between preamp and amp spot!!! This is where the Tara cables shine IMO!
The LAT International AC-2 MkII power cables I use are very well balanced sounding and quiet, especially with Oyaide rhodium plated connectors. The Signal Cable Magic Power cable I use is a warm and full bodied sounding copper cable with slightly veiled mid range and highs. These 2 power cables seem to give weight and balance were needed, and help to create an extremely enjoyable sound when used with my Tara Labs Air 1 series 2 ics and Tara Labs Air 1 speaker cable that sound very resolving and airy with huge 3d holographic presentation of the music!
In summary, I think too much of a good thing is often too much of a good thing! So, maybe a "Full Tara Loom" would be too hot and chaotic sounding for most folks? UNLESS maybe you have 0.8 or higher up the Tara Labs line, which I have not had the pleasure yet. |

I have been busy with all kinds of crap, but there has been music playing most of the time, thank God!
First of all, I gotta say the new amp is a serious bad ass and at the same time so pleasant to hear. It is supremely musical(yes.. I said musical, you know, makes you wanna tap your toes or actually get up off your ass and dance around!)and lovely sounding, yet mega detailed, resolute, and powerful too. I feel very involved in the recorded music folks. The McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe Gold edition just has heart and soul man! What else can I say, I love it. It mates so well with my Hales Revelation Three and the rest of the system too. That is what I am really exited about!!
@Audiolab, I will admit...the Tara Labs Decade power cable may not have been used for 300hrs on the amp before I moved it from the amp and to the TLC-1 Deluxe outboard power supply. That's because I felt like it's hot sonic signature would probably not cut the mustard with this big amplifier even after break in.
Here's the good news Keith!!! It sounds wonderful for digital, preamp, and on the phono amp too.
The Bad News: I ascertain that the Decade pc does not have enough "balls" for my power amp. When the Tara Decade was on the big amp, the sound was super articulate with an amazing wide presentation, every instrument, voice, etc separated in its own space. Just an amazing presentation of the tunes! BUT, to my ears it lacked a sense of thickness, bloom, and full-bodied sound in the lower end that we all want. It had awesome tight and deep bass but something was missing down there. There was a THINNESS to the sound that I CAN'T DEAL WITH. I think the design of the cable leans towards a big presentation, a wide/deep soundstage thing that Tara Labs cables do so well. In order to have this type of presentation, IMO, the lower mids and upper bass usually suffers.
What we have been describing here on these threads as "full bodied" or warm is the Signal Cable Magic Power Cable that I use with the amp now. I will go so far as to say this pc is "very impressive" for the cost!!! It lacks the beautiful crystalline picture that the Tara Decade pc paints, and yes there is a veil or haze over the music in a way. BUT... it has balls the size of a bull and it gives the full bodied sound the the rest of my Tara Air 1 cabling needs to sound it's best!
I really do think the Tara Labs cables are the BOMB! I mean they really can help a good system to sound amazing! They are designed to amaze the listener! I also believe that in order for them to sound best you may need some warmer, more full bodied power cable or interconnect cable thrown into the mix. The full Tara sound in my experience and in my system is almost to hot to handle!! |

I understand about the finances . It is going to take me a while to get caught up.I have spent money for a new Power Commander for My Vulcan 2000, Viking saddlebags, new diving board, and I had a problem with my sand filter spitting sand in the pool. I Found out the pipe for the laterals was broken. I bought a new valve and new laterals and pipe and put in new sand .

@ grey9hound,, What an offer!, I would have to see if I can, right now it does not look good because of money, Krell may be tring to make me pay $400.00 for a fricken box with fitted foam for the Krell 700cx to be shipped back!, they puposely tore up my reuseable box with professional reuseable shipping material I already had shipped to them!, needless to say, I am very pissed off at the situation!, They may even try to discard the skidd I paid good money for and the rachet tie downs I used, One thing you can believe or my name is not audiolabyinth!, that shitt is not going to fly!, My carrier will not except the amp off the skidd or not rachet tie downed to the skidd, They will have to do what I want or I cannot get my amp back!,, now you see why my earlier post about krell was not good so far, I am hopeing that this issue will be resolved a.s.a.p. and all gos well from there!,, happy listening! |

@ ZD542, As much as I love The Taralabs cables, Its the same as all cables, Its system dependent!, The Decade cables were really good for the money paid new!, Its a cable line from 1995 that was Taras celebration cable of being in bussiness for 10 years, the following year they introduced the one cable, the Decade was the top of the line in 1995, 96, the one, the zero gold 97 till late 2013 or early 2014 when Tara releases their new top cable and a speciality line thats for wide ban amps, but the new top cable will be for the mass componets out there, I hope they still keep the zero and omega cables in the line up!, we will see, maybe Tara will try to come to reality with their cable pricing thats really out rageous!, But I think that about all High priced cables!, Its a cable right!, LOL!, cheers! |

In my 35+ years in this hobby I have found that what others like may, or may not be what I like. This hobby is a crapshoot at best! LOL!! the outcome should be very adequete! Adam, I hope that your outcome is MORE than very adequate!! LOL!! I think you are already there with all of your McCormack gear. I still remember when Steve McCormack was working for The Mod Squad!! Thank You Audiolabyrinth!!! That's what I needed to know man! I wasn't going to put the Tara Decade power cable on the amp if construction was 14 gauge. I've had it in the system since Sat morning (on the dac-1)and I can tell the Tara Decade is a really good power cable. I just switched it over to the modded MCCormack DNA-1 Dlx. I will give my full impressions soon.

@ waxwaves, You are talking my kind of environment!the spring fed pond and all the frogs and fish!,I have been swimming in that kind of setting all my life!, sounds like a awsome time with the beverages and all, I mean beers!, The Decade a/c cable is 12 gauge 15 amp! and should work on any thing you have!, Its not like you have 500 watts class A high current a channel and catching your receptical on fire!, LOL!,, I know your amp is high current!, the a/c cord should be fine on it!, your amp does not require a 20 amp breaker or a/c power cord that is 20 amps!,most likly, it may still sound better on the digital? we will see want we?, cheers! |

Hello fellas, it's been a fun weekend here! We have had lots of visitors, so I missed you earlier. Yeah the McCormack Gold Edition amp is awesome, a fine addition to my system. A dream come true actually!! I think that "It's so choice" as Ferris Bueller might say, and like Jmcgrogan2 would say..."it has my speakers in a VICE-GRIP!" Serious musical power and control without any artifacts, nastiness, or overemphasis of sonic detail. Lifelike presentation that is extremely dynamic and precise and at the same time musically satisfying which I love. It presents a real sonic picture that keeps me involved in the performance, especially with good recordings. Bass is incredibly powerful and clean down to the lowest note. I love it!
John, after hearing this amp my AudioNervousa has grown stronger. I want full SMcAudio mods to everything!!!LOL!
I also picked up a 4 foot Tara Labs Decade power cable for $200. Put it on the DAC-1 to burn in. Too early to tell about it really, but I think it may be an improvement and towards the musical side! I still do not know if this is a high current amp kind of power cable. It may be designed around front end source type equipment???? It will stay on the McCormack REV.A DAC-1 until I figure out it's place in the system. I'm really curious as to what gauge it is. Any input would be welcome!

Yes, The NC high country is beautiful and all the nice folks here make me feel right at home. I am originally from a small town 20 miles north of Knoxville. I slowly moved up the mountain, where it's not so hot in the Summer! Plus we can ski in the Winter! Dennis has a pool, that's a very good thing to have down in K-town. Up here we have a spring fed pond! No diving board... but there is a little dock to jump off of! The water is nice and clean and you're swimming with Catfish, Bluegill, some frogs, turtles, two little watersnakes, a bunch of dogs, and one big orange and white Koy! LOL!! We take the HarmanKardon Go+PlayII, ipod, a tennis ball, a cooler with sandwiches and cold bevs and have a ball! I'll try to post a photo soon. |
Well, just hanging out. Sounds like you had some real fun shipping your amp. WOW, what a chore. Diving board is up and we are using it. Water is nice temp. Not too cold not too hot. I hope all is well down your way .
