Impulsive drive to buy the EverSolo dmp-A8 or should I wait ? That is the question.

I'm in the need for a streamer and with Tidal it's a must! But the man on my shoulder keeps saying WAIT! until the price goes down. with all the features this toy can do, I was shocked. tell me Audiogon family. do you think this is a wise move. I listen to Tidal through my computer and it is getting old. but at 2k I'm on the fence, I have seen great reviews about this unit, but I usually wait until all the bugs is worked out and purchase the second generation that may come with some improvements, I had a bad experience with a product from a manufacture that kept trying to fix their unit with software updates. that never worked, so it was off to the trash. has anyone purchased this unit? and if so any issues? I would like to know Thank you.

I wouldn’t buy anything based on Android 11 OS. It was End of Life Jan of 24 with no further patches and security updates.

They are approaching the price of Innuos and now Aurender. Buy one of those and get great hardware and even better support. You are buying into a platform / ecosystem.

Aurender and Innuos can remotely diagnose and correct many problems.

A6 McIntosh DAC users can no longer connect via USB since last update. They are having USB problems with other brands USB. Unresolved since June and Jan.

Their suggestion? Roll back firmware. Visit some foreign site with no affiliation and download FW. They would not directly send it saying it was dangerous to roll back firmware??? I’m dead serious. That’s the level of support you get. So I waited 3 FW revisions and still no USB.

Their support is to visit their user forum or exchange through dealer. Exchange for another unit that’s software is bad? Makes no sense. $1299 , $2000, and now $3700 ? As a Bluesound and Aurender owner and tech support for my Dad’s A6 I suggest spending your $2k to $4k on a company that won’t let you down after the sale. That’s a lot of money, spend wisely

I would seriously consider the New Bluesound Icon. It’s coming out in a week or two. It will have a display, dual DAC configuration and Bluesound has invested heavily in research and customer support. I have a HiFi Rose and Bluesound X (also older Vault, Node and Node2). I am very impressed by the sound when using a separate DAC of my choice. I can’t say I have experience first hand with Eversolo but I am seeing comments from some users that the support is not there. If the products and brand are that good, it would be a shame if the company has not set up true customer support. That is vital in my book.

The Icon will most definitely replace my Vault if it dies soon.   I like having cover art but don’t need a touchscreen.  Your  tablet or phone is a perfectly good control surface.

People are obviously attracted to the Eversolo touchscreen , but how often do you use it?   I’d rather have a stable time tested platform.   There’s a reason other companies are using the Bluesound OS for steaming.   Cyrus is one example.  They tried their own and I’m sure it was pretty bad compared to Blu OS
