I’ve been happy with 20 systems for 38 years. Never stopped me from experimenting with different products. But now I’m done, mainly because I’m too old and too tired to sell and ship gear.
I love my system, yet I also really enjoy listening to new speakers to listen for the changes in playback, for better or worse. I don't know what a c note on the piano is, don't care, but when my favorite music gets boring to listen to when chillin' it usually means i'm getting ready to start shopping again.
Me too! I pretty much got off the "upgrade train" a few years ago, but PS Audio encouraged me to upgrade my DirectStream DAC to the MK2 model, with an offer too good to be true, and to purchase their new CD/SACD transport, that I did that to "stay current" and replace units that were several years old with new models. My speakers, subwoofers, amp and preamp are "keepers", no thoughts about replacing them.
Unless you have the newest (and very reasonably priced) bits of kit specifically to address the negative effects of power on musical or video playback. I have long understood this and have addressed it ~ 30years ago first with adding a 20 amp dedicated line, then various power plants, expensive power conditioners and for 3+ years a Core Power 1800 (best of the bunch), leading up to my experience with Vera-Fi Audio LLCs Snubway ($295) and soon the Main Stream Master Class Dynamic Line Conditioner ($295), which is available for a simple stereo system and a larger version for a combination of A/AV. I promise you will love your system a whole lot more
