How important is an LCD screen on your streamer?

Hi, All,

Just curious of the importance to you of having a screen display on your streamer? For me, it's critical. I would not purchase a streamer without one...As much great press as the Innuous and Aurender's get they don't seem to prioritize a display screen?

I don’t want it. I don’t even want an LED light! My streamer has no buttons or lights and I simply use my iPad.  Remember, that display screen, additional processing power and even LEDs can introduce noise into the system.  These  features require additional power and if not on is own individual power supply it will suck it from the main power supply and introduce noise.

Now the unit can be built with a separate and isolated power supply for these features, but this will cost and many manufactures won’t want these increased costs. Something to consider when shopping.  I am sure some higher end units take care of business and do this right.  Innuos now offers these features in some of their new Stream units.  I bet they do it right.

I would rather not spend money on these features built into a rectangular box 10-15 feet from me 😳. I understand some would love it.

I have always thought a screen on a streamer is redundant given that a tablet is usually the control surface for any streamer.   Or a phone

As an owner of a Bluesound Vault 2i and an Aurender N200  my advice would be to listen to a few different streamers and see which has a better user feel and sound to you regardless of whether it has a screen or not.   I know a lot of people look past Innuos because there is no screen but they are steadfast in the belief that it causes noise.  Their new Statement has no screen, $21,000.    That says something.

My Dad bought an Eversolo A6 , because it had a screen.  I warned him that they are relatively new to the  audio streaming space  and to buy a Bluesound.

He ignored my advice and now has a box with multiple issues . Instead of fixing issues , they create more with each update.

I can't tell you how many times I have brought it over to my system to confirm it's the streamer and not his gear or LAN or wifi.   At least 5 or 6.   I have put my streamer in his system just to be 100% sure.  That's not worth having a touchscreen.

I would suggest the Bluesound Icon or Aurender A1000 depending on budget if no screen is a deal breaker.  Both stable with good support.   Aurender is in another league with respect to support.

Not at all, makes noise. My DAC  has no LED let alone a screen, my transport has an LED and it is in the off position.

I thought it would be an unnecessary feature at best, add to the cost for sure, and possibly have a negative noise effect on on sound quality at worst.  I operate my system remotely from my iPad (usually) or my iPhone or laptop (sometimes).

Maybe glance at it across the room to check if it’s powered on. Streamer(s) turn off after a power outage; something we get here more than a few times a year. iPad or phone runs roon/streamers.

Spent my whole life, listening to music on a record player, cassette player CD player. Without looking at a screen and now all of a sudden, we need one? What doesn’t make sense for me is why do you want to look at a little 3 inch screen across the room? If it’s that important to you, get an old 12 inch tablet(that can be updated) prop it up and then you will have a proper display screen for viewing.

Not important.  I always turn it off to block all possible negative effect on SQ.

Not important to me. I use Roon on an iPad. Before that I used the LUMIN app on my iPad and iPhone. I love both apps. I have no use for a screen display on my streamer.
