High Praise from Michael Fremer on Dr. Dre - "The Chronic" DSS One-Step Vinyl

I saw that Michael Fremer dropped his write-up/review yesterday for Dr. Dre - "The Chronic" DSS One-Step from Interscope's new one-step vinyl series 'Definitive Sound Series' (DSS). Since this is (as far as I'm aware) the first one-step for a hip-hop record, I was definitely interested in what his thoughts were. High praise from the man!! He gave the sound a 10/10 and to quote him, "the vocals are so ridiculously well recorded and left to hang unmolested by effects you can almost smell the blunt breath." I'm pretty hyped to find out what the next DSS records will be, and hopefully this opens up the door for more hip-hop one-steps in the future. What records would you guys want to see get a one-step for DSS?

Fear Of a Black Planet by Public Enemy. I saw them along with Sisters of Mercy at Radio City in NYC in September 1991.

I like Fremer.

Would really like to hear The Chronic. The price is too steep for me, but it’d be fun to listen to it. Very curious/interested in what comes out next.

Sure, why not some PE? Too many others to suggest.

Thanks for posting.

@jasonbourne71 - I was supposed to have gone to that PE/Sisters show in Berkeley, but it got canceled; what a great double-bill!
