I have closed back Sundaras and LRS. There is something about planars that sets the musicians free.
Hifi Man Sundaras!
Anyhow, just great little cans for not much $!
@soix . Thanks, i have an older dragonfly somewhere...will check it out. |
@deep_333 FWIW I was able to drive my HE400S (98dB sensitivity) with an AQ Dragonfly Red. The Sundaras are 92dB but still may be worth a shot if you can return the Dragonfly just in case. Not surprisingly sound quality was significantly improved over using the 3.5mm jack from my iPhone/iPad if that’s your benchmark (I use Qobuz as a source BTW). Incidentally I got a significant bump in performance for not much incremental $$$ by swapping the Apple Camera Adapter for one from LavriCables — very worthwhile upgrade IME. Hope this helps somewhat. |
I have been researching an upgrade from the Sundara..There are SEVERAL professional reviewers who have listed the Sundara as an "A Tier"headphone in the timbre category & "B Tier"in the Technical categories of staging & imaging, making them a solid "B Tier"headphone & ABSOLUTE stone cold bargain for their meager asking price!!! |
I actually went to the Sundara from the HE560’s and man what a difference. The HE560 seemed somewhat veiled to me but had very good bass. The Sundara are far more detailed and nuanced while not having quite the bass performance. With that said I actually like the bass from the Sundara better. The bass isn’t overstated but substantial. Also the Sundara is much easier to drive. From my Schiit Magni Heresy to my dragonfly black they just perform. But boy do I hate the Sundara cables! |
