Help me find a suitable speaker cable for my all McIntosh system

I have only auditioned AQ speaker cables and the ones I like cost too much. I would like to keep my purchase under 5500 or much less if possible. My speakers are BW 800d3. Silver seams to make a bigger difference than all copper IMO w/AQ cables.

I broke down and ordered a 4ft AQ William Tell (Silver) bi-wire combo and just received it today.  Appreciate everyones suggestions.

Happy Holidays,

@farne230

It seems you are looking for an affordable “silver” speaker cable 4 foot long at $5.5k or less?

1st build a few pairs (that speaker can be bi-wired or bi-amped) using cat 8.

then compare any and every other cable to them.

Make sure you can return the $5,400. cable(s) you buy.

Next: any recommended upgrade to the crossovers?

Spend the rest on content!

Thank me now or later!!!!

I build my own speaker cables using Cat 8 OFC

this is all black,

8 strands 22 awg equivalent to 13 awg

8 strands 26 awg equivalent to 17 awg

I found and used black and red; twist them, put WBT connectors

I also have an all-McIntosh system, but I am powering KEFs. I had B&Ws in the past. Since both are warm, I can see how you want to change it up with silver. I have heard great things about Nordost Tyr 2 speaker cables. Slightly less performance than the Valhalla 2s. Might be a viable option.

I found the copper choices from AQ were too smooth with my equipment the midlevel AQ with silver cleared it up (ie. Firebird & William Tell Silver biwire combo's. Since they are above my budget for 4ft lengths I have moved on to hear what the forum has to say based on their experience.

It really depends on the sound that you prefer. You need to listen to a few.
