Had an epiphany, what would happen when all of you die?
Our kids will not know what to do with all the albums and CDs we have collected over the years, or even be able to turn on our systems mind you. Think about when they actually have to try to disconnect all the cables and pack up everything in the original boxes that are still all up in the attic....it won’t be pretty. |

This post really hit home, because my husband – a true, old school audiophile who had read this forum for years – died unexpectedly in January. I have all his gear and records to deal with and it’s a bit overwhelming. I have 3 sets of electrostatic speakers ( 2 Bevs and 1 Quad) all in various stages of being rebuilt, a vintage Macintosh amp that just decided to stop working, a variety of other components and a couple hundred records. I think I have found someone willing to take on the speaker rebuilding but what do I do with all the records? They are mostly classical and jazz and the local used record stores are only interested in rock. And the Mac amp weighs a ton. I can’t even move it. So you all may think you’re immortal, but give a moments thought to what you would be leaving your spouse or partner to deal with if you unexpectedly got hit by a bus tomorrow. |
