Goodbye Paradigm Monitor 7 v4's

Hi,

Looking for advice on a speaker change.  Currently, I have Paradigm Monitor 7 v4's that I've had for 15 years. They are floor standers. My room is small so I am intrigued by the idea of getting stand mounted speakers. The speakers I've been looking at (new) are in the sub $1,000 range.

My concern is that in buying stand mounted speakers at a budget price point will not yield any significant improvement in sound over the Paradigms. Currently looking at Wharfedale Dentons and Elac Uni-Fi's.

Thoughts?

Take a look at the Silverline Minuet Supreme Plus ($699) that produce awfully good sound.
You could consider preowned.  You can get something pretty nice for under $1k...
Consider the value of a buck 15 years ago and look at the inflation in hifi in that time and you'll probably go backwards in sq with that budget.

I dunno about that. I think there are lots of great entry-level products out there these days. A lot of electronics are actually getting cheaper (and better) over time, and the increasing number of products being sold direct and globalization are also contributing to keeping prices down. I think achieving a great sounding system is actually cheaper and easier to do now than it was 15 years ago.
You better buy now. Our government has been spending like a drunken sailor. The inflation that is coming might be the worst since the 70's
So, I've decided to pursue a slightly different route than I suggested in my original post. I will hold on to the Paradigm's because they are still great. I went ahead and bought a used pair of Elac UB5's for $250 just to scratch the "itch" of wanting to dry a different flavor so to speak.

Instead of spending $1,000 on new speakers, I will be investing $1200 on a pair of Rel subs to set the foundation, literally, for current and future speakers.
