Garrard A70 Turntable

I'm curious as how this old masterpiece still stands the test time.  It is part of a Pilot Stereophonic console.  Pilot receiver, this TT, Roberts 1660 D 7" RR and 3 way Jensen drivers.  Obviously SOA very nice furniture.  Any thoughts please.  Also the old FM/AM simulcast for stereo is a cool concept!  Thanks Happy Listening

I have a similar Garrard Type A MkII turntable.  It's built like a tank, is pretty cool piece of nastalgia, but also has a complex record changing system, plus the tonearm is a fairly chunky, which ultimately is likely what keeps it well below the 301 and 401 status.

@jond Hi All

Pilot Radio # 6024 Stereo Console Reel / Reel, AM/FM, Turntable, 3 way

See this CL listing SF North Bay under Radio.  Plenty of pics and I wish it was mine for sure!

For nostalgia it's pretty cool.  For sonic performance vs modern options it compares very poorly.  Modern turntables focus on controlling unwanted vibrations that can be picked up by the cartridge.  Better platter materials, better tonearms, motor vibration isolation, etc.
