Focal Sopra 02 and Pass XA25?

The Xa25 actually hits over 3x the listed (25w 8 ohm) wattage with 1% THD+N... Pass rates it @ .01%. It’s a little powerhouse as this is a pure class A amp. It really kicks a$$. It has more grunt than the numbers might suggest. https://www.stereophile.com/content/pass-laboratories-xa25-power-amplifier-measurements |
IMO Pass and Focal's are a very nice match especially with the class A line. I would suggest either the 30.8 or the INT60 as the Sopra's could use a bit more juice but overall the Focal's are very efficient and the Pass Amplifiers put out out a far amount of current given their size. I drive a pair of 1008 Be monitors with a pair of XA100.5's and an XP20 Pre with much success. Chuck |

Sound profile of Pass with Focal will be awesome. 25w is going to be a little light to drive such large speakers. Overall, those speakers are efficient and just need an amp that thrives at low impedance. The issue is that they go pretty deep in terms of bass response and that is where you are going to see spike in power consumption. Also, the M10 is an all-in-one integrated. The XA25 is just a power amp. Are you going to use the M10 as a preamp? I would consider Naim as an alternative. A NAP 200 or 250 will have a bit more power and will do better handling bass on those Sopras. Focals are voiced using Naim amps and they go together like peanut butter and jelly. Heavenly combo. Over the weekend I saw a NAP 250 B-Stock at the distributor which would be similarly priced to the Pass. The only thing you need with it is a cable. Naim uses a DIN 4 plug and they sell a DIN 4 to RCA cable for $150 to go with it. |
