yep second this one #1- Jeff Beck- Live At Ronnie Scotts (even better on BluRay) try also Black Eyed Peas Sydney to Vegas - the Sydney concert is very good sound quality - keith Harris is awesome Tom Petty Soundstage - with Steve Ferrone a veritable jet engine Huey Lewis Live at 25 - with bill Gibson another jet engine Rush Exit Stage left - in their absolute prime - Neil Perat at his very best - good sound poor video quality though Robbie Williams - Live at the Albert Hall (rat pack tribute) - this is one for the ladies - absolutely superb show - makes Michael Buble look like a complete amateur and actually gives Frank Sinatra a run for his money. |
The best concert DVD I have ever seen is Stop Making Sense, by The Talking Heads. They Hired Jonathan Demme to direct it. This was before Demme was a well known Hollywood director. The combination of the video quality, filmed on 35mm,and sound and performance quality, make this one. tough to beat. Of course if you are not a fan of the band then none of this means squat. Finally one of the extras on the disc where lead singer David Byrne interviews himself is a classic example of sublime surrealism. |

I wasn't aware that "Knofler/Harris" had a DVD. I love their "All The Roadrunning" CD so I must get the DVD. You guys named some real classics..."Rust Never Sleeps" "The Last Waltz" and "Stop Making Sense" are among my favorites. Some of my other faves are Bruce Springsteen with the Sessions Band: Live In Dublin The Eagles - Farewell 1 Tour - Live From Melbourne And for you old school country western fans, pick up The Best of the Johnny Cash TV Show....killer stuff. |
03-14-10: Audiofeil That is an absolutely awesome concert. The sound is not that good but the show is incredible. Roger Taylor is in top form and they play everything with a little more edge and speed. The rendition of John Deacon's "I want to Break Free" at this concert is the best version they ever did - they really sped it up and they are extremely tight. Meanwhile, for a good laugh, enjoy the best version of One Vision One Dump, One Turd, Two Tits, John Deacon, chicken feed babe! One heart, one soul, One sex Position! One shrimp, one frog, one clap, one chicken!... One of their joke takes actually made to the album recording - did anyone notice? These guys were all fun and extremely intelligent/talented. many of my fav's are listed already. I didn't see Alison Kraus & Union Station Live - it's amazing in every way if you like the band. Also, Neil Young Heart of Gold, and Peter Gabriel Up Live. I think Mapman and I must have been separated at birth - his list is mine, except I don't have the Beatles. Steve Hackett Somewhere in South America is also great. Other Camel DVD's are worth having if you like the band, maybe even if you don't except they're all 2 channel. |
