Elac Vela BS403 vs KEF LS50 Meta

You should find the Elac will have a better bass response sounding fuller and more dynamic. It should be a fun change in sound characteristics. I'd still use the subs around a 50hz crossover and speaker full range. Good luck!

We are a dealer foe both disagree about the bass and Dynamics the main thing is the jet tweeter which is a tweeter with a very airy open sound 

Personally both are very good the Elac isn’t a huge upgrade 

We would recommend looking at the next tier up

Pass unless it's even money.  Upgrades that are only a step up are usually disappointing and money consuming.  Keep banking your upgrade money until you can make a leap and not just a step!

Agree on the KEF Reference 1 which is a huge leap up in price and sound, given a capable amplifier

The ELACs would be $1,300 with stands. Wish I had the cash for the KEF Reference 1s. Figure I can sell the LS5O and stands for $1,100 or so, so the swap cost would be marginal. Given that, is it worth it?

@fritzenheimer I’ve never heard the Kef’s but have owned the Elac’s and they are some of my favorite speakers that I’ve ever owned. My wife still talks about them. If you’re itching to try something new, then I say do it. I think you’d be happy with them. 

I have owned the KEF LS 50’s, they are great speakers. I moved up to the KEF Reerence One, a very significant upgrade. I have heard the ELAC’s at shows and have been consistently impressed. It is a lateral move, I expect some parts will be better, but it in general it will just be different, which is good too.  Then start saving for a leap forward.
