Did you ever hear of Karl Jenkins?

Very worthwhile

Love his jazz-rock work with Soft Machine, and Nucleus.

He also did some work with Mike Oldfield that I like.

Don't like his classical music at all. It is way too tonal, and influenced by pre 20th century classical music for my tastes.

My tastes in classical tend toward, atonal, avant-garde, serial, and overall, "thorny" sounding.

Talented guy though.

His choral religious works are amazing.  Try the Dies Irae from his Requiem for starters.  The Armed Man is extremely moving, and I have sung his Te Deum, it is a lot of fun.  A unique composer.

Soft Machine founder. And solo work. His solo work is interesting, but I prefer the Soft Machine stuff.
