Current state of VR technology

Interested if anyone works in the VR industry or is up on the state of the art in that field.To those that have experienced it, what is your opinion of the current and near future quality of the experience?

Definitely not vaporware. I work in Quantum software, so i am probably more bleeding edge…but we keep an eye on the computational demands required by VR. Jim
