Concentration
I believe to get the best experience with your stereo you have to give your full attention to the music (not the sound.) Reading, doing chores, or writing something (like I’m doing right now) really lessens your enjoyment and can potentially cause you to doubt the quality of your system.

If my wife’s healthcare worker is here, I may hear music on her phone in the background (classic easy rock). If I am sitting at my computer, I may be listening to someone’s system or a YT video over the nearfield monitors. But I pay attention to it and am not surfing or... But most typically, I’m sitting in the living room listening to the system alone in the dark with eyes closed, GLASSES OFF (ALWAYS WHEN LISTENING), in the sweet spot. When the music is playing, I don’t concentrate on it per se, but do listen for every nuance. It’s hard NOT TO HEAR poorly recorded material. Here you go. This has got to be one of the most egregious examples and I bet Eric cringes every time he hears it. Someone blew the padding on his microphone BIG TIME! On a lesser system, he may just sound a bit "gravely," which he is known for. If I am actively trying to hear something (e.g., drum pedal squeak), I will actively "focus in" on that parameter. |
