City of Hoboken honoring Frank with life size statue erected in the Frank Sinatra park
Hello Audiogon Members,
I wanted to reach out to all of you who appreciate those great music artists who have brought endless hours of enjoyment to each of us and our loved ones. Although just 65 years old, I cannot think of a more iconic 20th century singer than Frank Sinatra. His songs have endured for more than 65+ years. For those of us who appreciate his place in music and the incredible sound quality of those recordings, I wanted to let you know that a friend of mine, Carolyn D Palmer (www.Palmersculptures.com) was selected to create a prestigious life size bronze sculpture of Frank Sinatra. I have no affiliation with this project but felt that I had an obligation to let you know that the city of Hoboken will be honoring Frank with this life size statue erected in the Frank Sinatra park along the Hudson river. The statue will be unveiled on Frank’s birthday, December 12th, 2021. Donations are presently being accepted for the creation of this life-sized monument. Contributions (small or large) are appreciated by March 1, 2021, to help work on the monument which has already begun. All donations are insured and tax deductible. For those of you who would like to donate significantly more, with a $5,000 donation, the donor will be honored with their names engraved on the base of the life size bronze sculpture as well as a first edition desktop miniature replicate portrait bust of the sculpture on a mahogany base. With $25,000 donation donors will be honored with their name on the sculpture’s base and receive a cold cast bronze full body miniature replica of the sculpture on a mahogany base. Any donations toward this exciting project to immortalize Frank Sinatra will be appreciated. Please write checks out to: City of Hoboken. Mail to Frank Sinatra Sculpture, PO Box 470, Saddle River, NJ 07458. The city of Hoboken will send you a tax-deductible receipt. I know I will as Frank has given me more hours of enjoyment than my wife cares to remember 😊
When did the city council approve this? Why does Fund For A Better Waterfront not know about this? Do the sponsor and the artist know the history of the political battles fought to get the waterfront walkway and waterfront parks? Do they know how congested that particular location is? Why did the artist block me for asking these questions on the Facebook group? |
Actually,
the poor bronze sculpture
dubbed “Scary Lucy” that went viral in 2015
was officially replaced. Carolyn D. Palmer, was asked to make a new full life-size which was unveiled at the Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celeron, N.Y., on Aug. 6, 2016.
