Challenged with Going from Integrated system to separates

Hello,

I have an audio /home theater that is all powered by a marantz 7015 and 4 external amps. In this scenario , I use marantz AV receiver as video processor , and preamp .  I have dedicated amps to power up my 7.2 channel.

i have recently decided to go separates and picked up McIntosh MCD12000 as the DAC and C12000 preamp which will feed into a McIntosh 1.2k  mono block AMPs for 2  channel audio . The c12000 preamp as bypass mode if I wanted to bypass a video processor for 2 channel audio.

Challenge /question:

how do I put the marantz AV receiver in this set up , so that I can use the marantz for home theater  processor ?

Sub has both RCA and XLR, I was hoping I could connect the AV receiver for home theater 🎭 to the RCA and use the XLR for 2 channel audio off of the C12000.  based on my human logic, this should work as opposed to using a Splitter at the Subs . Any thoughts ?

That’s exactly what I’d do as well and would be optimal.  The only question is if your sub works with both XLR and RCA inputs connected simultaneously — I’d think it would, but the manual doesn’t specifically say it so might be worth checking with Revel on that.  Since you’ll already be using the front L/R preouts from the 7015 into the C12000 you might be able to use the Zone 1 or 2 outs into the sub, which if it works would be the way to go.  If you need/want to use the Subwoofer Out from the 7015 you might need to adjust the crossover on the Revel to “LFE” when doing HT and then reset it back to where it works best for 2-channel when listening in stereo, but hopefully the Zone 1 or 2 outs will work.  Or I suppose you could use a splitter from the front L/R preouts from the 7015 and run connections to both the C12000 and sub that way, and that should work as well if a little less elegant.

@soix

here is the Revel subwoofer manual https://www.revelspeakers.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-masterCatalog_Harman/default/dw6c150d87/pdfs/Revel_Performa3_B112V_B110V2_QSG_EN.PDF

Doesn't McIntosh preamplifier turn off the video display when not using bypass mode?

+ @oddiofyl I use my McIntosh MX120 in Home Theater Bypass mode with my C2300. Works great.

You will run a stereo mini 3.5 mm from the Marantz 12v trigger to the Mac's Bypass input jack.  When you turn on the Marantz it will automatically put the Mac in "PASTHROUGH" mode .

The McIntosh HT bypass works great.  That is absolutely the best way to merge HT into a great 2ch system.   Enjoy

Very simple — just run an interconnect from the Marantz front L/R preouts to the home theater bypass input on the C12000, and obviously the MCD12000 also gets connected to the C12000 as well and that’s pretty much it (only the C12000 is connected to the 1.2k mono block amps). When you wanna do home theater just choose the HT Bypass input on the C12000 and the Marantz is in control, and when you’re listening to any other sources to the C12000 the Marantz is completely out of the signal path. Hope that helps.
