I've recently undergone an attitude-ectomy. I just traded in my 2000 BMW 540i/6, and in its place I'm driving a 2001 VW Jetta TDI. I decided that doing my bit to save the planet was more important than being BMOC. The new ride is even running on biodiesel. My only concession to performance was having an Upsolute chip installed.
That leaves the future ride and cost-no-object categories open. With the probability of getting another 350,000 miles out of the car I now have, the future may have changed a bit by the time I get there. And cost-no-object cars just aren't part of my world-view any more.

~~~~2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. 23 mpg, V-6 4sp auto, 200 watt Infinity stereo, Smooth Ride, Can Smoke the 17" Michelins on Command, and transports huge speakers after removing seats. Done nonstop 1400 mile trips to pick up some large floor standers, $100 in fuel. Ability to see over the cars in front of me, as to whats going on up ahead. Great trips. Great Memories. Sounds Like an Ad.

In my family we drive 1999 Honda Civics - good, reliable transportation. Once I am done upgrading my hi-fi, remodeling our house, and buying all the furniture my wife wants, I'll worry about cars. After I first get a car for my wife that she wants, I'll buy a (used, like my hi-fi) Acura RL or TL. But this is low down the list of luxuries that are important to me. Right now the greater luxury is not having any car payments and more free cash. |

I just ordered a BMW 325i with the Sport, Premium and Cold Weather package with leather and zenons. The audio system is ok with the HK upgrade but not like the Lexus with the Mark Levinson, however the Lexus put me to sleep. My wife, on the other hand purchased a BMW 330i with the Performance (M suspension),Premium and Cold Weather package with leather and zenons. BMW sales are slow on the 2005 3 series because the new 3 series is coming out in March with their new I6 motor. Good time to buy a Bimmer. Good deals.
My favorite car to own: A replica of the 1965 Dodge Ramchargers A/FXer that I could ride on the street. Holy s***, I would kill my self in 3 seconds. For a street car that is really driveable day to day: a turbo Porsche or the new 2005 BMW M5 |

So part of the reason my rigs aren't what they used to be... a few cars the prize of which is a 2002 BMW M3 tuned by DINAN to a full S2 (cold air, throttle body, ltd slip, software, total suspension L3, exhaust, etc plus Dinan wheels/PS2 tires and Brembo brakes). LOT of fun to drive, but not as much fun as audio still. Perhaps once DINAN releases their supercharger... ;) |

6 subs is what they advertize, 4 in the car and 2 in the trunk, however, the 4 in the car seem more like Misbass/bass. I wouldnt consider them subwoofers. (grin)
Actually right now im looking into Cold-air intake and upgrading the exhaust system. The only reason i could get this one is it was on serious discount because they are trying to get room for the 05's.
Still, it is gonna kill me to see tyhe 05 GT's and know they have 40hp on me, so with the cold air intake and exhaust overhaul i can probably pull a good 50-60 additional hp. I really want to get this baby running over 300hp.
Maybe donw the road if i ever have the money and DONT spend it on audio, i might see about a 9lb supercharger and kick it up to about 450-475.

I drive my friends cars! After a hundred and some years I finally decided to confront my fear of driving. I truly never believed I would drive, and never gave it a second thought, and for years and years and years I lived happily enough in just this way. On foot- at the mercy of taxi drivers and bus schedules- I was taking it all in! Then I decided to drive, and it was awful! You would have undoubtibly known it too, had you been anywhere near my campaign of terror. Other drivers were always screaming out their windows, flipping me off, even threatening to get out of their cars to confront me. It was well deserved. Though I never had an accident, it has only been the better judgement of others that have spared any of us any of that. I am thankful.Still, I have had to deal with the guilt of having to learn this way. It does not seem right to put anyone at risk just so I might learn to do this thing that most people have taken for granted. Yet, I was determined I would, even when it seemed hopeless. It has been my friends who have tought me, sticking with me long after my original driving instructor had the good sense to bail out, and well beyond the time I had continued on without hope. I resisted the whole way. Then, amazingly, it began to seem like fun! No. I must admitt that this does not seem like a good thing! But it meant the anxiety Id felt all my life about driving had dissipated, and then that I could really begin to learn. And more, that I trusted others to see me through an endeaver that was truly terrifying for me.It has been during this process that I became truly assured of the love my friends have had for me. So much has come out of doing something just this "simple". I wont lie. There is no happy ending. I am still a horrible driver! I am much better than I was initially, and I am improving rapidly. I am told I am within a reasonable margin, and even better than some. But even if I never drive again- and I care about all of you more than enough to consider this possibility, I am no longer afraid to drive! This freedom alone was worth the effort. |
