can we get to the bottom of what "rare" means in a FS banner

and when its strategically slipped in to the add itself?

It doesnt tickle me and I often skip over adds when I see that in the header because it makes me think...

That component was shyte, for that had it had a limited run due to sounding like shyte, sales fell off.
Or
That component is shyte so the majority of them were used as firewood.
Or
That component is shyte so many listeners became angered with it and beat the bejezus out of it, few remain in assistance today.

Seldom does rare mean something good, were not dealing with coins classic cars or limited prints.

Perhaps mandatory testing should be put in place to teach how to type out a realistic sensible classified add. Then those caught breaking a rule get strung up with a sturdy piece of counterfeit monster cable.

Rare means the piece rarely shows up used for sale as the owners keep them because they sound so fantastic.

Thankyou, thats legit imho. Though when thats the case its put something like "rarely put up for sale" and its accompanied by "my beloved". But then adds like that can also have you wondering do you really want it that bad after someone loved it quite that much.

I think that the word "Legendary" is also overused and quite often it seems as if smoke is being blown up my ( fill in the blank).
Eggnog, I never touch the stuff ;)

Thanks for the old time spelling lesson akg_ca. It was purposely spelled wrong, profanity isn’t accepted on the boards.

As a buyer, you need to think about all that anyway. Rare or not rare.

" Seldom does rare mean something good, were not dealing with coins classic cars or limited prints."

Never does rare mean something good. Rare has nothing to do with build quality or sound quality. A good component can be just as rare as a POS component.

What are you testing for and how do you go about preforming the test?
Your FS RARE rant explained:

in in this context it is just a simple variable value judgement blend of the subjective  and the objective; I.e.:an Implied inference that
(a) it is a purposeful metaphor for generating buyer interest
BUT
(b) is not the ever-repeating, commonplace, dime-a-dozen offering of the usual  "Shyte" (... SIC ..... Its actually spelled a "shite" in the King's English  in the U.K. And Ireland from where it originates.)
