@playpen I got a big slab of bowling alley ages ago. Made for a great workbench so long as I didn’t need it to be flat. Filled with nails too, so made it a treat to cut. 😂
Butcher Block Adjustable Speaker Stands
I finally scratched an itch that has been bothering me for a year. The issue is getting my speakers at exactly the right height/angle for my listening room. As some may know I have relatively large 2-way monitors which sit on end tables that have the crossovers built-into the drawers.
I’ve tried IsoAcoustics monitor stands, and yes, I think they are great, but unfortunately the medium stands were too tall / had the wrong angles. While they are adjustable to some degree they have no fine control.
Anyway, to make a long story short this Memorial day Butcher Block had a sale on their component platforms, with a range of adjustable, screw on feet and voila! Problem solved. The combination of height and tilt has been dialed in perfectly.
I still recommend IsoAcoustics, and may even at some point spring for their screw in speaker feet but right now everything sounds so good I dare not touch a thing.
PS - A tweeter is not always the ideal determinant of where your head should be. It's useful to attempt listening below and to the sides. Focal, B&W and other brands really benefit from non-tweeter axis listening.
