Bryston Bdp3 Upgade

Want opinions on a definite upgrade to the Bdp3  innuos, aurender, Lumin

5-6K

Agree with the Simaudio Moon recommendation. When I was exploring options recently I really liked their gear. If I didn’t want separate streamer and DAC, I would have probably gone with their Moon 681 streaming DAC. I bet the 280D is also really great.

I had the BDP-USB/BDA2 stablemates that were well built and good performers . BUT ….and it’s a big “ But” …. The BRYSTON Manic Moose digital interface is mired in 15 year old technology the frustrated the **** out of me.Even 3rd party software apps like RIGELIAN were poor options compared to rival offerings .

I dumped them and upgraded to MOON by SIMAUDIO streamer / network player / DAC

My take

The MOON 280D MiND2 was a clear and not insignificant step up in both it’s audio performance , and , it was also blessed with a digital interface that was a flawless and an EZPZ breeze to step up in functionality and operation.

BONUS: An unmatched warranty & trade-in / trade-up program.

(1) Their 5 year warranty is upgraded to 10 years for free if properly registered to first-time owners,

(2) Dunno if you wanna settle on a particular model? Then think about what MOON offers as a full purchase credit toward a new unit upgrade in the 1st year , and a 75% credit for an upgrade in the second year,

Google the reviews . Here is one:

Highly recommended

Always looking for sound Upgrade, After reading countless archives on comparisons, $$ spent might now be a giant Shift ib sound

The bryston is quite neutral, just looking fur possible step forward, Innuos seems

to be a way to go

Agree the BDP3 is solid in sound quality, just lacking in some features.

Unless you use Roon, all the players have their own feel when it comes to software controls. Some will resonate with certain users and some won't. I think that's why there are so many arguments about which is better. People just like different things in their UI design.

I tried Aurender, Innuos, Lumin, Auralic, and some others. Ended up liking Auralic best. But then I mainly use Roon nowadays so it really doesn't matter as much.

Although its software is overdue for an update, the  BDP-3 is a great player. What about it are you seeking to upgrade? If it's just the software, you might try using Rigelian on an iPad.
