@bdp24...I did not know that.  Thank you.  I've seen Maria as a solo artist, but never had the pleasure to see Lone Justice.

I was going to post the BullMoose info on that LP, but when I made sure it could be ordered, it was available in store only.  That was very nice of @thepigdog to offer.  We have some fantastic members.

I LOVE BULLMOOSE.  Have been a (mail order) customer for many years.  GREAT bunch of people!!!

@mofimadness: Agree about McKee! Sort of her generation’s Linda Ronstadt, a very powerful singer. Really cute, too. ;-) I saw Lone Justice live when the debut was released (at The Roxy Theater on Sunset), and she was also great on stage. Did you know her older brother was a member of the group Love?

@thepigdog: Wow, thanks a million! I'll send you a PM to arrange---Eric.

I ordered The Cure' Wild Mood Swings' on line. Only need Wish on vinyl to complete my Cure collection.

I'm listening to  Dusty Springfield - The Complete Atlantic Singles 1968-1971 now and it is also very good. Has a light warp, but not affecting playback.

I have same general frustration as @big_greg …but we endure…. I am over the moon for the two mentioned Dan releases…imagine RSD if it was always that good…

i am an RSD robot !

Listening to the Reservoir Dogs OST right now. They did a nice job with this one. Great sound quality, flat and quiet vinyl.

Plaid Room Records was great about the King's X warped record. Another copy went in the mail today and they are sending me a return label for the bad one. They always have great customer service.

@bdp24 Bull moose has it for in store purchase only. I would be happy to get it for you. no extra charge except mailing cost.

I ordered a couple of leftover releases from the July RSD and the first one I played had a nasty warp.  Not that other new vinyl doesn't have issues sometimes, but it seems like a lot of the RSD releases, especially the color vinyl (this was translucent pink) have issues.

Oscar Peterson from the Black Friday drop should be showing up on my porch today.  I hope that one is good.

Yes vinyl keeps getting more expensive crazy.

My local Barnes and Noble is cutting back on shelf space, I'll bet the price increases have hurt sales.

Titles that were once in Goodwill $.50 bin are now issued for $25.00

I also bought a few more.  Man, this year's RSD's were expensive (for me).

Norah Jones-Christmas Don't Be Late (3" RSD)

Nancy Wilson-You And Me

Lana Del Ray-Chemtrails Over The Country Club (Colored)

I went back and picked up the Johnnie Johnson (Chuck Berry's pianist, this album produced by Keith Richards, with NRBQ members playing on the album), Leonard Cohen, and various artists Americana Railroad titles. The Little Feat was sold out, gotta find it online. Anyone seen it for sale anywhere?

I haven't listened to everything yet, but these are both great

Little Feat - Electrif Lycanthrope

Art Pepper - Promise Kept

I'm getting burnt out on RSD.  I think the retailers are too.  I have sat outside in the cold for hours to get a ticket to spend 5 minutes going through the RSD releases.  I have more than once ended up buying more than I planned to because something looks cool, and then find it sitting in my "on-deck" bin months later or being disappointed because of poor quality, either of the recording itself, or the media.

It was raining yesterday and there were really only 3 things that interested me at all, the Best of Judas Priest, Little Feat - Electric Lycanthrope, and Dusty Springfield - The Complete Atlantic Singles 1968-1971.  I decided not to go sit outside and wait to get in.

I stopped by the local record store about 1 PM and everything I wanted was there except for Dusty, and I picked that up online this morning.  I ended up grabbing a copy of Fleetwood Mac Live while at the record store.

From what I understand, the point of RSD is to get people to go shop at their local record store, which I totally support.  During the height of lockdown I was ordering a bunch of vinyl from my local record store through Discogs to support them.  With the resurgence in vinyl and ever increasing rising prices for used vinyl, they seem to be doing better than ever.

In talking with the owner of the local record store, it seems like a real pain to manage RSD.  They have to order a bunch of titles that they have no idea whether they will sell or not.  If you walk into most record stores that participate you'll often find some titles from the previous RSD or even things a year or two old.

Since they get such a big rush of people trying to score the RSD titles, the stores here at least have a period of time where they are letting people in only for the RSD titles, so they're not selling any of the rest of their inventory during the time that people are flocking to the record store for the RSD titles.

That seems to defeat the stated purpose of getting people to shop at their local record store, when the store can't manage the RSD rush as well as people shopping the rest of their inventory.

Then there are the titles themselves, which often seem like found leftovers that didn't make it on an original release and are put out as new "RSD First" titles or "Indie exclusives", often on colored vinyl that is hit or miss in terms of sound quality.

Finally, you have the flippers.  The ones that pay someone to stand in line and get the few rare and sought after releases and put them on Discogs the next day for multiples of their original price.

I don't hate RSD.  The last one had Steely Dan's Everything Must Go and Two Against Nature and they were both really well done.  That was more than worth sitting outside waiting for my ticket.  There have been a few other gems, but (IMHO) they are few and far between.  I love the concept of supporting local record stores that's behind it, but it's always kind of a mix of excitement and frustration for me.

I LOVE that Lone Justice album!  Pretty sure I have that on some sort of Audiophile vinyl.

Maria McKee is incredible.

Last year I went and stood in line at Music Millennium at five in the morning. A week later they still had stock on most titles.

This year I didn’t go in until early afternoon, and there were still a lot of copies of all titles save one: the Chris Isaak Sun Records tribute album. Only one left, so I nabbed it. I’ll pick up a coupla others (the train song album, maybe the Johnnie Johnson, San Cooke, and live Little Feat) later.

MM also had Lucinda’s Funny How Time Slips Away (Lu’s Jukebox Volume 4) on sale for $14.99! I also found the debut by Lone Justice in Mint condition for five bucks. The excellent drummer on that first album---Don Heffington (later heard on albums by Buddy Miller and Van Dyke Parks)---died this past March, same age as I. It's weird to know you are in all likelihood in the final decade of your life.

It’s a great time to be an LP lover/buyer, ain’t it?

I don’t usually shop RSD, but it was on my way to work so I made an exception, and stopped by a local store at 8 AM. All LP except for one cassette
