Best powered mini monitors w/out sub

I am looking for powered speakers small enough to set up with my computer at home and pack in a suit case and take on the road as well. Remember no sub. New or used less than $400.

Doesn't the sub have the amp inside so they are inseparable as a 2.1 system? I can't carry the sub in my suitcase on trips. And that's what I need.
