Best new loudspeaker

I have heard many loudspeakers ,I own Magnapan , and
a Aerial 10-t . This new loudspeaker I heard at great lengths and many agree is from a new company called
NSR -Sonic Research the D-3 Sonata was absolutely killer
and they were saying the wiring and crossover are not even final as of the Jan show . parts quality is excellent in the Silver finish I saw,for a speaker under $5k to create such a soundstage presence with bass that had articulation and impact is beyond me how they do it ,I am told it is a
sealed focal lens .They will be selling by March ,I for sure will be saving my bucks, this is one loudspeaker to watch ,I am already selling my 10-ts.

I have heard a fair amount of the emerald loudspeaker
it is very good except it takes 2 amps and is a little finicky in it's choices this what a couple of people told me , I will be giving these a listen and the NsrD-3
in several weeks they say with the finalized Xover it is excellent ,we will see this is where the company sent me to .I am in Ct , the Emerald I think I will have to go to NJ http://www.hifidelityaudio.com/NSR_specifications.htm
I am a tough nut so I will bring the works to throw at both of them.
Shadorne, I like the idea of the sonic circle for its attempt to create a means of category. I'm not sure if I completely agree with it- what if you have a system that has all the aspects with none emphasized?

A lot of the panel speakers qualify to me as 'vivid' to use the terms of the circle; they combine emotional with precise. Yet I also hear them being smooth and detailed, they might be a good example of what I'm asking about here.

One thing that has really struck me is that as speakers/systems get better and better, the more they sound similar (and awesome), which is as it should be.
Audiophile1958-

I heard the D1 's at the 2006 show I they so didn't float my boat at all that I didn't bother to go into the NRS room in 2007.
Three of my personal favorites from the 2007 show, and they are all different;
Apogee Duetta,
Classic Audio reproductions,
Maxx2's.
Each to their own.
Happy listening y'all!
I would like to say I have heard ,several of the big dogs out there ,the Maggi 1.6 I still own and is in my 2nd system .I compared the NSrsonic d-3 and found rather good but a small problem in the 5k range the voices lag behind
in the shadows if you will, on some songs ok other unexceptable . I ended up the the OMEGA Max Hemp-loudspeakers-with the Alnico Magnets -SUperb and in some way betters my maggis,No crossover ,the imaging is as good as the best and soundstaging is excellent ,although not full range Hi- 30s is realistic. I added their Deep Hemp sub and it is noticably more articulate than my Rel stadium.
For $5k I feel I got a steal and the hand made Veener cabinet is a bonus.
there is another new panel speaker which has not been mentioned so far, namely the podium, from england.

i will be visiting the importer in brooklyn, ny, to audition the speaker, on tuesday. i will report my experience. this speaker was exhibited at the show in 2008.
Techmachine;

Did you get to hear the NSR speakers?

It sounds like one can get a wide range of reproduction from the speakers with different front components.

Stereotimes review is up.
They made the best speakers back in the late 60's to mid 70's and I have one of them....SANSUI SP-5500's! Speakers made today are made for HOME THEATER!
Speakers made today are made for HOME THEATER!

So true. Small satellites with a bandpass subwoofer or tall narrow elegant ported speakers with small woofers and both designs capable of highly impressive one note bass. Modern audio has made such huge advances!!

In the seventies the drivers and crosover made up much of the cost of the speaker.

Thankfully today we have advanced to the point where the expensive veneer and styling has become the most important and expensive line item in a speaker.

Fortunately A'goners know this and we shun the HT forums....
