I've had a chance to listen to some NAD gear and some Marantz. Except for the first NAD Master Series DAC, the NAD sound has always been better to my ear.
Basic NAD Vs. Bells/Whistles Marantz Int. Amp
Streaming only/musical tastes all over the map…light-to-non-existent on Classical and Rap, Heavier on Jazz, Rock and Pop. Using Klipsch RP-600M speakers in an art studio/workshop environment that’s sort of “garage-like” except that it’s air conditioned when occupied…the resident lizards and occasional wasp and I are on first name basis, lol. Using a new, eero mesh WiFi system there that’s working really well getting Tidal into an Airport Express > aging, Sherwood receiver presently.
Does a NAD C316 BEE V2 utilizing the existing Airport Express as streaming device — or — a Marantz PM7000N seem like the best integrated amp upgrade here? To be honest, I like the Marantz but have concerns about the old “more stuff to break down” axiom (computer chip thingies/etc.) in tandem with the fact that it’s going to be used in a harsher than usual setting. Am I worrying too much here?
Thanks in advance!
