The single driver Ravens look very interesting. Suggest that you also take a look at Omega Speaker Systems. I was ready to purchase the M30.1s several years ago after a lengthy home audition. I then was able to very shortly thereafter hear the Omega Super Alnico Monitors (also single driver speakers like the Ravens) at someone’s home and liked the SAMs so much that I immediately ordered a pair. Compared to the M30s, the SAMs (to my ear) are fuller, with better bass and, again, to my ears a better midrange (as background, I was replacing my pair of Spendor BC-1s). I listen to a wide range of acoustic folk/Americana, jazz, classic rock (e.g., The Who, Pink Floyd), groups like the National and Big Red Machine, World music, and classical chamber (e.g., string quartets) and orchestral pieces (e.g., Mahler symphonies, Fritz Reiner’s Scheherazade). I have the SAMs in a 16’x25’ room, driven by a Unison Unico hybrid integrated.
Any Harbeth users hear Fern and Roby Ravens?
I'm trying to get s sense for the difference between the sound of thee two brands. I have M30.1s and am intrigued by the Raven and especially the Raven II because the limited space I have requires me to move the speakers in and out for listening.
I like my M30s but always trying to improve.
