Do any of you know of a good repair shop or repair person in the Huntsville area. I'd like to have the Genesis servo amp looked over and calibrated/checked. The hard part is the bass columns weight about 250lbs each, and I am extremely reluctant to transport anywhere. This setup is 4 pieces; Bass columns and wings with the servo amp and specific cabling. I'd pay to have them come out and inspect the system.
Swapped out all power cables for Silnote"s Poseidon. Also ran a dedicated 40 amp 10g circuit from the panel to the room. For interconnects and speaker wire, I went more economical and are using SKW's top of the line cables from Amazon. Good quality occ copper, well built with solid connectors. I am quite pleased with what I have but would like to add a set of SS monoblocks just to compare experiences.
Thanks Jafant. Apologize for the delayed reply, holiday travels and all that. One good positive outcome for me during the pandemic was to dedicate an upstairs bedroom into a dedicated 2 channel listening room. The room is on the small side, 12x13 with a bay window, but if you cram enough acoustic treatment in you can somewhat manage the base and reduce the standing waves. Stating with the source, a VPI prime scout TT with Ortofon 2m black cartridge, OPPO 103d CD transport fully modified by OPPO Mod, Gustard X26 DAC, Rouge RP1 Preamp, Carver 275 Crimson tube amp, and finally Dali Epicon 2 speakers. Truly have enjoyed getting back into my Jazz, Blues, and Poet's collections. The Southern Rock, Art Rock, and Rock n Roll bands I still listen to in my living room surround system to enjoy the larger stage.
denniswelter Welcome! Yes, the Gulf coast is pretty dry. All Pro was very good back in the 1990's. Sad, fact that we do not have better Audio representation. Over the years, a few Audio operations have come-and-gone in Pensacola. On the flipside, Car Audio thrives along the coast. What gear is in your system? Mine can be seen here in Virtual Systems. Happy Listening!
I am looking for any enthusiast in the Pensacola area. Saw an earlier post where this Gulf coast region is an audio dessert. Would have to agree. I know none in my circles and I was born and raised here. Used to spend a lot of time at Grice Electronics and then later at All Pro. That should indicate how long I've been around and enjoying music listening.
Good to see you here. I am excited for you and your new Home south of Huntsville. I am in between Birmingham and Montgomery for reference. My system is 90% complete. Only component left is Cabling!
Our new home is being built in Cherokee Ridge just South of Huntsville. Completion of the home is estimated to be done in April of 2022. The audio room will be left unfinished and I will complete the room myself. If there any takers who would lend a hand and make a new friend; you are always welcome. Bring your golf game and enjoy the scenic beauty of the community!
This will be a 2 channel room for friends and I to enjoy. There are dedicated 20 amp runs for the amps and other components.
All drywall, taping, insulation, Green glue, wall plugs and needed items to be assembled. The framing will be rough with all wiring runs to the area. I am considering a sloped ceiling as a add on to the framing. Room size is 21' x 9"15' x 8'
Bryston 7BSSt x 2 amps Bryston BP 25 Pre Amp Berkeley Alpha USB Tri Vista 21 DAC Genesis 2 speaker system Custom build PC for audio. System wide room correction
The room will be measured after the completion and room correction will be applied if needed. I am hoping this will not be the case, but we will see.
One recording I heard 1971 in San Pedro(Los Angeles) California had verse "Everything's Magnificent" China Vallis was radio host and may seem insignificant but, I remember what I remember so, What was name of song and who was artist?
Birmingham area audio meet. Lots of us in the general area. where would be the best place to meet? Summit or Hoover? Meet for on a Saturday and introduce ourselves to each other. I can be reached glfrancis2 at google mail...
I am in southern Tennessee about 60 miles north of Huntsville. I have all kinds of Klipsch and besides my personal system normally have a variety of things to listen to. Nothing fancy here but the sound if anyone cares to stop in I am always up for visits. My personal system by the way is a derivative of the Klipsch MCM 1900 MWM bass bin except mine goes down to 27hz as a single fold horn and has a Klipsch K-402 horn on top. You want to sit next to the 32 foot pipes stop in.
