AHB2/Sansui Receiver Pre-out Sound without using volume pot

Hello!

I have fully restored Sansui 9090 that i'm using as a preamp. I've split the single pre-outs so that I can use two subs. Works fine and sounds awewome.

The mains amp is a benchmark ahb2.

Subs are both powered...Hsu.

I've noticed when the mains amp is off and the receiver volume dial is on zero, the subs are already amplifying the audio signal entering the receiver via a schiit audio DAC.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Thank you

avanti, the subs are both playing the lows from the music signal when the sansui volume control is fully on zero...the same signal that's going to the benchmark amplifier.

Is the subwoofer playing musical beats and notes or is it a steady drone?

Yes this is exactly it!

AHB2 not outputting anything at zero volume, but for some reason the sub amps are getting the music signal and amplifying it before the AHB2 is. You're right, no big deal but wondering if there is a way to easily fix.

Just to be clear you have removed the U jumper between the pre-out and main-in and have each output Y split to feed the amp and sub for each channel?

What happens when the AHB2 is on and zero volume?  Any sound from the DAC?

If so, there is some bleed through the volume pot because the DAC output voltage is high.  Not a huge deal.

I assume that if you turn the Sansui off, the subs quiet down?
