Does it make sense to place a dac between my preouts and my amp and use pure or pure direct mode for music?
We’ve been through this already on your previous post but you seem to just not get it. You’ve got a $2700 amp and $5200 speakers and you keep asking if adding a DAC and running that through the preamp section of a $1700 AVR is a good idea. IT IS NOT!!! The preamp section of your AVR SUCKS!!! To do this right what you need is a good DAC and stereo preamp. I already explained this to you ad nauseam but you seem hell bent on convincing yourself that somehow using the “pure direct” mode on your lowly AVR somehow magically bypasses all the cheap-ass electronics, noise, and crap power supply, etc. in it. It does not. I’m done. Go ahead. Buy a DAC and ruin it with your AVR or just run the analog outs from the AVR and experience the full glory of both its crap preamp AND its crappy DAC. I feel bad for your nice amp and speakers. Argh! Peace out.
