Adding JL Dominion d-108 sub… surprise

No fan of subs.  My experience, they muddy rather than enrich.  New found appreciation for at least one in one of my systems.

Modest casita system:  iPod, Luxman dock, Naim Atom set upon Quadraspire SVT stand, Puritan Labs P106 conditioner, Patrick Cullen shotgun copper cables and PC, ATC 7 speakers on massed stands and…. sub.  Really fills in the bass and seems not to muddy.  Breathes oxygen into the dynamics overall.

Locating and positioning your subwoofer within your rooms, standing wave base mode is the first step in successful integration. Using a method like the subwoofer crawl test is a quick and simple method to locate and mark your rooms modes.

Once positioned an inexpensive pair of custom length interconnects from a provider, such as blue jeans, cable or mono price will suffice for connectivity.

Welcome to the deep end.

Congratulations on your upgrade.  Obviously subwoofer room placement is key.  Also keep in mind that after getting LF reinforcement from the sub this may allow your mains to be repositioned as well.  Your mains my now need less room reinforcement to help the bass and having the flexibility to move the mains away from the walls can improve your imaging and sound stage.  Have fun and cheers.

Whatever we do, let’s not tell him the secret of what happens when you get two subs. Glad to see you have come over to the dark side. May the Sith Lords Grant you great power.

Adding 2 JL Audio subs to my B&W 803 D3s made a significant difference.

Very happy.

For me, end game system.

Thanks for all of the positive technical insight.  We're only talking about an iPod based system in a casita, so I'm pretty sure optimization has been reached for now until source upgrade such as streaming with the Naim Atom.  Cheers
