Custom rack, isolation under platform vs component? Very nice. Add some angle bracing on the back and sides, or a small panel and it will firm up nicely.
GREAT NEWS! The Coda Technology new #16 amplifier will arrive this week @johngp I'm currently trying out the No 8 and though I only have about 48 hours total on it I have to say it is shockingly good. Keep listening and run it 24/7 during your trial. My experience is it only gets better:
KEF LS50 Speaker Stands My LS50’s sound best at ear level. Anything else and the whole soundstage is shifted up or down. However, I have found they also sound best to me with only a slight toe-in, i.e. not pointed directly at the listener.
Review on Coda Technologies 16 Amplifier went live today @yyzsantabarbara It sounds like we have some similar tastes, I am running LS50's with a Coda #8 and a Freya + pre. What caught my eye was your pending choice of the Holo Serene as your next preamp, it is what I am eyeing as well as an upgrade to t...
Transients hurting my ears on hifi solid state amps Clarification on my post, the Coda #8 is class AB, and delivers 18 watts of class A, but, is rated at 150w class AB.
Transients hurting my ears on hifi solid state amps I took a look at the specs for your existing amplifier and the proposed Pass and Luxman, as well as those for your speakers. I have concerns that any of these amplifiers will properly drive your speakers which are 4 ohm and recommend 40-200 watts ...
Schiit Audio @zlone have you had any reliability issues with the components that you own? My biggest concern is the Loki Max sending any spurious damaging signal downstream into any of the components.. I have an original Gungnir that I also shipped back t...
Schiit Audio I own a couple of their components. They were consistently good to work with and responsive to some issues and concerns that came up with the equipment. I am very satisfied with the gear, great value.
Listening after your entire system was powered off cold for a week+ Yes, definitely. At first listen it sounds pretty good, but then it becomes clear that the sound is a bit 'hard' all around. Things seem to smooth out after a few hours as you have noted.
Mass-loading subwoofer @curiousjim You wouldn’t happen to have a picture? 😁 I have a 42 pound curling stone on my REL 7i. Not sure it makes any difference, but it looks good. Sorry for the slow response, I was traveling. I had hoped to post a picture on my return,...

Transients hurting my ears on hifi solid state amps I think that Class A is your solution, however I understand your concerns about heat and energy usage. A good compromise are SS amps that are heavily biased such as the Codas. When I upgraded from NAD to the #8, the change was remarkable in terms ...
Zavfino Hmmm, and I was just getting used to my Cullens. Food for thought.
Warming up digital in my setup @martinman I'm intrigued by your Pi/Allo setup. Early on, my first headphone setup used a Pi w/ HiFiBerry Hat. It worked out really well to stream Spotify -- it was basically set and forget. I still have a few raspberryPi 3 and 4, so I'll check...
Warming up digital in my setup I have LS50's on a pure digital system using a Pi/Allo Digione streamer and a Schiit Gumby, it sounds great. The Gumby will give you that smooth sound you are looking for at a lower price than the Yggy. That said, you should first try a dedicated ... |
