KEF owners, how are your speakers positioned? My LS50’s are toed in about 15 degrees. Triangle is roughly 7’ per side and I get a very good image.
Question re: Aurender N20 Server, Qobuz album takes 10-15 seconds to start playing Maybe it is a bandwidth/buffering issue? Try plugging a laptop into the Orbi that the streamer is using and run an internet speed test. I am not familiar with Aurender configuration, but check if there is a setting for how much of the selected tra...
Probably a dumb question You might want to set up a Saved Search on US Audiomart for the brands you are seeking. This will give you notification anytime something new is posted that is a match.
So you just took a gummie...What song is on the menu? ‘74 Dead
Best Amplifier & Speakers combo? I vote for the LS50 as well, but I am biased because I have them. However, I recommend you broaden your amplifier search to find a bit more power. Even at lower volumes the LS50’s benefit from an amplifier with some depth.
Subwoofer Given your limitations and speakers it might make sense to try the KEF offerings as they have settings to support non-optimal placement. The KC 62 might be a bit small for that room, the KF92 might be a better choice. I have LS50’s, and one su...
How do you high pass your main speakers? I use the high level connection on my REL T7i subwoofer (i.e. speaker wire connections to the power amp), so filtering between the pre and power amp is not an option. Is there a way to add a high pass filter for my speakers at the speaker wire out...
Integrated suggestions A little over budget, but Coda CSIB might be worth a look.
My Final System Build in Words & Pictures Thanks for sharing, beautiful system. I am inspired to get to work on my list of audio projects.
Upgrade Preamp from MyTek Manhattan II? Holo Serene seems to get good marks and fits your budget. It is on my list as a possible upgrade to my preamp.
Sometimes more is not better -or- Ethernet Overkill @erik_squires Good suggestion, I will look into it.
Sometimes more is not better -or- Ethernet Overkill @erik_squires Good point on the power supplies. I have a LPS on the streamer and the far end FMC. No guarantee that the LPS is not creating noise as well, but is probably better than the supplied SMPS's. I have concluded, unscientifically, that t...
The best speaker cables you’ve had None. I spent this winter on a failed (lower cost) speaker cable mission. Tried the following: - Blue Jeans 12 AWG - my existing wires - Mogami 3103 - dark, slow - Kimber 8TC - nice-ish mids and highs, light on the bass - (Near)dost Valhalla ...
Revisiting Chinese Knockoff Cables Yep, every "store" is different. I bought this one: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802201015097.html at 1.5 m with BNC's it was about $90. I am still a bit mystified as to the design, what coax has two cables? Anyway, the results were startl...
Help! Is my new McIntosh MA12000 broken? Not an expert on this, but if the sound is coming from the amp itself I think it means you have some DC on your AC power line and it is making your transformers hum. Look into a DC blocker, I think there are several options out there. ( e.g. HumDi... |
