I have been using Pledge Dust and Allergen brand dry cloths. They come in a plastic bag like pak of 16 and claim to "grab and remove dust and allergens, a dry eloctrostatic cloth" They have been easier and more effective than using a more conventi...

Auditioning gear for purchase.. not in town
I agree with Sounds real, at the prices we pay for this equipment most of us can afford a getaway to Denver or Vegas in my case. I happen to go out to CES every year and love visiting the two shows (THE Show and CES). It's a great way to touch, fe...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
2004 Ford F-250, 2009 Toyo/Scion Xb(for toolin around) and when the summer rolls around a 268 Grady White Islander w/t200 Evinrude for chasing tuna and sharks.
Finger Prints on Records
My experience hasn't shown that the oil from a fingerprint would cause permanent damage to a record. for stubborn fingerprints I use 50/50 of non-ammonia glass cleanser/distilled water brushed into the record followed by a steam rinse with a Perfe...

new to me turntable and preamp
There you go, a tuner. a pre amp AND a phono stage and a good one at that! That is very generous Pumpkinman, you have restored my faith in humanity. If you can jump on that Denon DL 103 cart you will be in great shape. You'll have a real music mak...

I have read somewhere that a certain cartridge gives the Bellari a slight hum, I can't remember which one though. As long as the tube is good, and you should probably get a spare, and the table is properly grounded you should not have any problems...
Has anyone ever cried listening to your system
I have been brought to tears while listening to music, but it has been more a confluence of circumstances that initiated them. My general emotional condition along with a moving piece of music played through a well thought out sound system has bro...

Yes- a Y cable will work
Installation of B&W 683 into a wall cubby
There are some great in-wall speakers out there. Could save you some expensive cabinet work and the worry of how they will sound. Most speakers prefer to breath, they sound best out in the room somewhat. At best they are going to sound different.
Connecting amps to preamp
I don't believe you will be able to control the volume individually making this not a good idea. You want the rears at a lower level than the fronts in a surround set-up. Which gives you the out put you need for the sub. You could also run an outp...
new to me turntable and preamp
Correct- you would run the phono stage into one of the receiver inputs (v-aux is probably a video input) If you are getting the table new and it comes with a cartridge start with that, it is probably a good match with the arm. BTW there is a Bella...
What are the Best FM tuners?
Check out the MD 109- it is pricey but some have said it sounds better than a 20k analog front end. At the price of a good new car it should be.
