What's up with the ridiculous offers?!?
I also agree that discerning between a current product vs a discontinued product is critical. Even if you own the original, and you believe the SE or the MK2 isn't as good, you're most likely out of luck. And yeah, manufacturers, not all, do rewor...
What's up with the ridiculous offers?!?
"What's your bottom line?" Is that a problem? I guess it's a different world. If I ask for a best price and I'm happy with it, I will buy it. If not, well, the seller's bottom line and my top dollar are out of synch. And who is to say who's being f...
What's up with the ridiculous offers?!?
I've been selling gear for years and years. Low offers are here now and were around years ago. You don't like an offer, thank the person, and move on. No one is obligated to pay your price and buy your gear. Potential buyers owe sellers nothing at...
How many tube watts for Vandersteen 2's?
Hi moronpainter and welcome to AG. I cannot suggest this strongly enough- use punctuation. So so hard to read posts without punctuation.
DYI system that simply was never heard off
Reviving an ancient thread with one word-BOTTLEHEAD
Would you be more likely to buy new gear out of state if there was no sales tax
In fact someone I know bought furniture on line from an out of state vendor- spent 5 figures. Sure enough, about a year or so later he got a tax bill for use tax from his own state. Admittedly,,this is the first and only instance of such an occurr...
Audio - Post Divorce
Sometimes a spouse just decides to go down a different path. If your spouse has done that, the love bank is already in overdraft. As I learned later it turned out infidelity depleted the account
The one piece of gear you will never sell

ARE YOU A " TRUE EXPERT AUDIOPHILE " ( T E A ) ???
I don't think of myself as an expert, but I know what I like and don't like. The only thing I may be an expert in, when it comes to audio, is finding ways to spend money! Seriously, this hobby of ours is interesting- I'm always learning and discov...
Do you think audiophiles are the most gullible hobbyists
Lots of hobbies have snake oil and those that buy into it
When did good gear start getting your attention?
I reemeber going to the pharmacy as a 5 or 6 year old with my dad to test tubes!
When did good gear start getting your attention?
Those were the days. I bought Koss headphones rebranded as Realistic at Radio shack. Loved them- had them many years. Lafayette as fun too. Tech Hifi was a wonder. Saw my first Infiniti black widow arm then. For me the late 70's were the days of m...
Audio - Post Divorce
I find myself recently divorced. I'm out of a bad relationship, which is good. I am out of my home of 22 years, which isn't good. My stereo system is in my new living room which really is set up to optimize my listening pleasure which is good. And...
Can a name make you or break you in the Audio World
It is indeed an old story that the early Adcom stuff was named exactly as per Lou's description. And I think it worked.works with Schiit too. The fact that it's even being discussed is an indication. It's publicity, not notoriety for what it's wor...
If you won the power ball tomorrow night would you
Now that it's over one billion dollars, let's see- build a home with a dedicated music room? Check. Do some upgrades? Check (a new phone cartridge would be nice- mine's at least 12 years old). Buy more music. Double check. Oh, and 1- retire, 2- gi...
