Perfect Pitch?
I think some may be confusing 'perfect pitch' with sense of relative pitch. If there is really such a thing as 'tone (should actually be 'pitch', I suppose) deafness', that would be the inability to recognize discordant relative pitch, and I for o...

Yeah, it was a joke...I'm not a 'pressings' hound (though I really do have it :-) And I'm also glad you didn't take this offline; Records are the reason we have record players (and the reason we have records, hopefully, is music). As far as I'm awa...

Agreed 4yanx, which is why I won't be listing any of my several thousand 45's from the 50's and 60's here... :-)Ron, I hope you have the Crusaders LP "Unsung Heroes", which to me is their strongest overall effort from the electric phase of the ban...
Review: KAB SL-1200 Fluid Damper Tweak
Sean: I personally have never had a problem with high-level acoustic feedback at home with this TT, before or after the fluid damper was fitted, though I've witnessed it happen with some of the Euro-changers of yore. But Donovan's post would seem ...

Ron: You would be correct in deducing that I don't prefer the type of 'progressive' rock featured on those releases...I'm sure our tastes must have some overlap (rock is my main music), but one thing I must agree with you on the need to weed out t...

RR, the definition of what constitutes "kick-ass LP's" is evidently highly personal. My criteria is rarely as a collector, but primarily as a music lover, and as such I wouldn't care about the Vertigo stuff, whatever it was worth, unless I happene...
Review: KAB SL-1200 Fluid Damper Tweak
Donovan, thanks for posting your experiences and bringing a different perspective not only to this thread, but to this website I'm sure (I'm assuming for the moment that you arrived here by following the link Kevin recently put up on the KAB websi...
Stunning cable comparison
I can agree both with Walter's and with Herman's comments. I will add that the Satoris have been the best speaker cables I've used in my own system to date.
VTL, MIT caps and how close is the 450?
Well, it's an addiction you needn't worry about me contracting, but thanks for the elaboration...I wonder what your amps would sound like compared to mine...
HELP w/Preamp Polarity Inversion Problem
A polarity switch on a DAC is not 'another switch in the circuit' in the sense that it would be on a piece of analog gear, because it operates by reversing the polarity in the digital realm, with no sonic penalty.

...Sounds like a plan :-)
OL Silver vs SME 309
[Quincy: Sorry to take the thread on a slight detour, but extensive experimentation led me to load my Glider M2 at about 400 ohms. That figure isn't offered as gospel of course, but I do recommend you not rest at 47K ohms without exploring the sub...
Which is better? AES/EBU or coaxial?
I too have preferred AES/EBU connection...and disagree with Lafish's characterization of the difference, unless "romantic" = less information getting through, less cleanly...
Manley reference preamp vs levinson 38 for s/state
Dog_lover, I haven't heard a 38 in many years (and wasn't all that crazy about them when I did, the sound being somewhat hard and foward as I remember it), but I recently got a 380S, and whatever else one may say about it (and I like mine quite a ...

I'm curious - if there's a phono card available for your preamp, why aren't you considering this now? Would it really be more expensive, considering that it would save you from having to introduce another set of interconnects? Assuming this is a d...
