Turntable Power Source Benefits
No doubt, and I'll be very interested to learn what results Albert obtains running the ExactPower unit, a product I've been looking at for general use in conjunction with my Power Wedge Ultra balanced iso-trans. I'll post a full review of PS-1200 ...
Turntable Power Source Benefits
My recent experience confirms that this question is fundamental, even on the much less exalted level of my tweaked Technics SL-1200 DD, with its internal servo speed control system. I just added the new KAB PS-1200 dedicated outboard power supply,...
How much does rock-solid speed stability cost?
I wanted to briefly add to this thread, just because it's been brought up above, that I very recently added KAB's new dedicated outboard power supply for the SL-1200 to mine (it's the first one in the field anywhere). The result, on a TT that didn...
Review: Grungebuster CD Mat Herbie's Audio Lab Tweak
Megasam describes the product as being a thin rubber mat. I would assume then, that as the owner of a transport using Pioneer's Stable Platter mechanism, I wouldn't benefit from using this tweak. (The transport's a Theta Pearl, and for those of yo...

Why can't I hear 20 years of phono 'progress'??
Lugnut is on target when he says Ultrakaz got it right. Having read your question, I don't at all doubt your ability to fairly and squarely evaluate the situation, but the next step is to isolate all the independent variables. Despite the fact tha...
Room Treatments added, with negative effects..
From what I understand, AP speakers tend to be balanced for listening in the nearfield. How close is your sitting position to the speakers? If you are in the farfield with speakers balanced for the nearfield and then damp the room as well, the res...

I will be interested to read of your impressions, Trelja...
The Truth About Preamps
I once started an archived thread basically about this topic, check it out at Ever Perform A Preamp Bypass Comparision Test? if you are interested...
Just a kind word of thanks
Yeah, now that you bring it up, if I were to actually get rid of all of my 'bunch of garbage', I shudder to think how much more compact the ol' collection would be... ;^)
Just a kind word of thanks
Wwwrecords, I guess you must be a Steve. So is "Dennis_the_menace" - check his post above. But I'll see you on those few thousand records, and raise you a couple of thou! :-)

Aside to Slap: If the amp is stereo, it was built at least a decade after the end of hostilities with Japan...Trelja, I too like the Heresy's, but whether you go Lowther or whatever, if I were you, I'd really consider adding a turntable front end ...
Another 6550 vs. KT88, 90, et. al.?
I also had JJ's (EL34's) go bad on me before I tried the Svet's, once taking a resistor. No such problems with Svet's or Sovteks, but the Svetlanas sounded best anyway.
Just a kind word of thanks
Gosh, I'm glad I spotted this thread before it dropped off the radar! Quincy, you're most welcome, and I'm glad I could be of any assistance. Believe me, I've tapped many of those on Audiogon possessing much more knowledge than myself, and it just...

Taking off from your launching point, my vote would go to a nice old Klipsch corner horn (well, I would say one, but I guess the amp is apparently 2-channel, so two if need be...) with a Rek-O-Kut playing those 78's and LP's I just know your uncle...
