Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! I have over 12 hours on my Blue Jean speaker cable and the Mini was bought used so it is broken in. At this early point I can easily say the Mini setup is sounding better than the LRS+ system. The top end is a bit better and there is more clarity ...
Coda 11, Schiit Tyr, JC5 or ??? I am a big fan of Schitt gear. I have owned the CODA CSiB, #8, and now the #16. There was a great series on SoudstageUltra.com about Jeff Fritz searching for his new uber reference amp. He used a CODA #11 as a stop gap while he was looking for t...
Are Metal Speaker Grilles an Issue? I think some speakers use the grills for tuning, such as the metal grills on the Paradigm Persona lineup. My Yamaha NS5000 have metal grills, and they only serve as protection. I guess it depends on the speaker.
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! @mclinnguy I am not making a general statement that speaker cables do not matter. I have been using the Audience FrontRow speaker cable on my now sold LRS+ (office) and my Livingroom systems. This cable can compete with any cable at any price. It ...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! The Mini was really the only option I have for my current space. It will not be on a desk, and there will be an unobstructed path from the speakers to my ears. I was not really particularly about getting a Maggie, but I already have a great amp f...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! @northman Thanks, I just ordered the 10 AWG Blue Jean cable. I need 2 sets for the Mini and it cost $200 for all of it. I will put my Audience FrontRow with 1 set of the Blue Jean and compare it with the 2 sets of the Blue Jean. Unfortunately, m...
The new Coda S5.5 amplifier: It's a "Petite Beast"! @snapoli2 I saw your post comparing the #16 with the S5.5. What speakers did you compare the 2 amps with? I also recently heard the Luxman m10x and thought it was very similar to the #16,
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! After selling the LRS+ a few weeks ago I turned around and got a used Magnepan Mini for my new smaller office space. A question for you Maggies owners out there? I was using the Audience FrontRow speaker cables with my LRS+, but I need more speak...
Streaming, Getting the Signal, Then What? The biggest change to your sound without throwing money at it is to bypass the preamp and use the. DAC s volume control. I hate DAC volume controls. The only one that came close to the Benchmark LA4 preamp's volume control at ALL volume levels...
Raal Immanis top of the line headphones Sounds like ignorance is bliss, even for the pros. The guys making the RAAL gear are also musicians, actually well-regarded ones and what I have observed from them is that they know a thing or two about sound. I have owned a Grado and gave it aw...
Looking for a narrow baffle small footprint speaker KEF Blade 2 Meta. Forget that BestBuy sells it too. This is one of the very best. The soundstage is the best I have ever heard, except live. The tech and research KEF put into the Blades is unlike most competitors.
Raal Immanis top of the line headphones @stringreen How are we (or they) nuts? Spending too much on the phones? One thing to consider is that a lot of people with a TOTL phone do not have a 2-channel system. I know 2 people who sold a Magico based system to go with the RAAL SR1a earpho...
Non-Audiophile Audiophile question! @unclewilbur I am saying the Mini on stands about 3- 6 feet behind me. I will also use a sub. If you have a bit more space, then the LRS+ would be even better. the issue with Maggies for me is that they are not supper detailed in stock form. The ...
Non-Audiophile Audiophile question! I see some of you have mentioned headphones. One reason I am going to be ’slumming’ it with the Magnepan Mini’s is that the end game for me is to buy the RAAL 1995 Immanis headphones to use with my existing RAAL VM-1a tube headphone amp. The Mini ...
Non-Audiophile Audiophile question! In an office with a desk and a lot of reflective surfaces having the speakers behind you is a great way to listen. I have been doing that for a decade. See my Office system on Virtual Sytems page. What is posted is my old office. I just sold my M... |
