Kids, Dogs, and Speakers
@wqgq_641 Your speaker requirements are EXACTLY like mine. In my case a crazy dog and wife, the kid is more manageable. Take a look at my Livingroom virtual system to see how I protect the speakers from the onslaught. I wanted to get KEF Blade 2...
VENTURA COUNTY STARTUP
Why not join the LA club. They have events all around LA and surrounding areas.
The new Coda S5.5 amplifier: It's a "Petite Beast"!
I recently tried 3 different speaker cables with the CODA #16 | Holo Serene preamp | Yamaha NS5000 speaker. WyWire Platimun speaker cable WyWire Diamond speaker cable Audience FrontRow speaker cable I also tried a Benchmark AHB2 on the same...
I Got Ants in my Pants and Need to Dance
I like some of the tunes mentioned. Never heard of these before so that is awesome. Another song I think has a good groove, but it is not a traditional groove is Taj Mahal by Gilberto Gil and Jorge Ben. It is just acoustic guitars and vocals but ...
*DAC
@navyachts If one of the reasons is to eliminate a preamp and also stream then go for the Lumin X1. The Lumin X1 is one of the very best streamers (use fibre). It is also an almost perfect volume control which also works with the streamers output....
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock?
Here is another part of what is needed for my setup.   https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650072737-sgc-optical-package/
Annoying newbie CD/SACD player question
You can feed a coax cable to an external DAC and you should be on your way.  Make sure they can output DSD. I do not think anything other than the D.BOB can do that.
Annoying newbie CD/SACD player question
I had a Sony SCD-1 modded. This was one of the best ever. It died after 20+ years. My replacement is better in many ways (more detail) and almost as good in others (engagement). The cost was not too much given that I was able to leverage 2 existi...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock?
I use a computer and leave it under a bed in my guest bedroom. It is a tiny computer without a mouse | keyboard | monitor. It is directly connected to my network via Ethernet. I run ROON Core on this $500 computer. I use PowerLine Adapters to get ...
Preamp for a GaN-FET amp...
If you do not want a preamp to adjust the sound, then the Serene and Benchmark LA4 are the best I have found for that role.  I would be interested to see Guttenberg review the new Schitt Mjolnir preamp. I have that and I like it for the Class A c...
Finally upgrading my amp
The PeachTree GAN400 is rather good for the $1000ish used price. I had it 2 times on my Magnepan LRS+ until I finally found the Sanders Magtech amp which is better for much more money. I used to own the older PEachTree NOVA 150 and found out via ...

Preamp for a GaN-FET amp...
The Holo Serene is like the Benchmark LA4 preamp, except a tiny bit warmer. Hardly noticeable. I have both and have no desire to change. This was after trying about 6 other preamps.
Review of ultraRendu / opticalRendu
The OpticalRendu is not difficult to setup. At one time I had 3 of them streaming ROON throughout the house. I used PowerLine adapters (recommend TP-LINK not Netgear) to get the bits to the different rooms of the house. The oR is much better than ...
Bananas rule, spades drool. End of discussion.
Purifi and Benchmark measured the different types of connectors and found the bananas the worst measuring. There was an article/interview about this when Purifi was releasing their first amp module. Benchmark also mentioned the same in some articl...
